Early Morning “Wetness”

June
6/3/2009:
No, not a medical condition – but some summer-like thunderstorms to keep you awake!

Do you love thunder?
Here’s what the National Weather Service has to say about “right now…”
…SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT BRONX… EASTERN UNION… HUDSON… KINGS (BROOKLYN)… NASSAU… NEW YORK (MANHATTAN)… QUEENS… RICHMOND (STATEN ISLAND)… SOUTHERN ESSEX AND SUFFOLK COUNTIES…
AT 433 AM EDT…NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR WAS TRACKING A LINE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM NEWARK TO WANAMASSA… OR ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM NEWARK TO ASBURY PARK… AND MOVING EAST AT 45 MPH.
HEAVY RAIN… FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING… AND WINDS UP TO 40 MPH ARE EXPECTED WITH THESE STORMS.
LIGHTNING IS ONE OF NATURES NUMBER ONE KILLERS. REMEMBER… IF YOU CAN HEAR THUNDER… YOU ARE CLOSE ENOUGH TO BE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING. MOVE TO SAFE SHELTER IMMEDIATELY.

Transformer explosion at 400 First Street – I guess the “electrostatic” nature of this storm had something to do with it?

From what I recall (I used this photo for a picture of the day last winter) – it’s the Hudson Tea Building looking South.
