This was what we paid to get Raslowki in...

"The Star Ledger reported today that in January, Davy denied a request by the Hoboken Board of Education to void a consulting fee portion of a retirement deal for Hoboken Superintendent Patrick Gagliardi who retired in June 2007. Gagliardi received $495,000 for unused sick and vacation days along with a promise to be paid $996 per day as a consulting administrator for up to 100 days. These perks are in addition to his $128,400 per year pension. Revelation of the nearly $600,000 Hoboken deal comes on the heels of reports that the Keansburg Superintendent of Schools, Barbara Trzeszkowski, is retiring next month with a $740,000 severance package. Karrow pointed out that the State Commission of Investigation (SCI) released a report two and a half years ago calling into question school superintendent excessive contracts and benefit packages. The SCI is a non-partisan appointed agency. “For the last two and a half years, both Governor Corzine and Commissioner Davy sat on the SCI report and did absolutely nothing about these obscene superintendent salaries and benefit packages,” exclaimed Karrow. “This information was there in black and white

Putting peoples names down on a piece of paper is not getting our students better educated. It takes hard work and volunteerism INSIDE at meetings, and a follow up to see that the suggestions are implemented by the teachers and those in charge. ANYTHING POSITIVE can be tried and work. Been there, done that! That is the boards job, not putting names down for POLITICAL GAIN...

the High School, as now, has "clubs" available, chess clubs,
sport clubs, debating clubs, etc. These look really good on a resume or a college application! Reinforcement at home with
homework, and no excuses for work not done, did some good.
The teachers went out of their way to be supportive and helpful, and coupled with the parents who took the time to come in with their complaints at home (my son says he has no homework!) Yes, there was a lot of detention until they learned to buckle down...
It must have rubbed off, two of my sons are teachers, and my niece teaches Music and performs at concerts. They are not geniuses but when we buckle down together to work on weaknesses in the system, it works...

I put my three sons all the way through the public schools here and worked inside as a PTO President assisting the teachers for three decades. Parent and teacher meetings got a lot done. Homework assignment pads went home to be signed
by the parents. The schoolbooks were improved and updated, and as the marks went up the morale went up, both of the students and the teachers. I was proud to be a Public School parent, and I worked hard and spent a lot of time INSIDE the system. The Board was frequently at odds with us, too much politics stifled much, and the students were the ones who lost out. Now they want CITY HALL! Cammarano was right on when he said they should stay out of politics and put all of their EDUCATIONAL energy into the students!

How about reading the 411 entry in http://hoboken411.com/archives/17714: perhaps you will see my point.

Basically Dawn did make a lot of shady deals behind closed doors back in 2007 and has close ties to creepy characters. For example, a few weeks ago a lot of Dawn's supporters on 411 freaked out when she was accused of paying the election day workers with the HCDO money, but in her depositions she basically admitted that "Carol Marsh took care of those people"

Of course, today Carol is running on her ticket and Michael Lenz is writing Dawn letters of endorsements. He even signed the letter "Certified MFO" - talk about shamelessly showing his intention to become the city administrator.

Finally, is it just me, or did she seem totally confused throughout the whole deposition? But, maybe she was just acting and pretending she did not know anything for sure.

The rest of your post is kind of confusing: you are complaining about the CT PILOT, but you feel it's OK that Dawn voted yes on the PILOT for luxury condos? She herself said that was a bad decision at the last debate, but you are saying it was OK?

In response to Easy-E who said:

I read through the deposition, while I only read up through page 50, I am not sure I see what your are talking about.

Voting record is inconsistent? What does that even mean? I don't make the same exact decision every time for similar situations. So what? Situations are different so too can be the judgement. I don't understand how that is a bad thing.

Don't get me started on CST. Half those people can afford to pay $2000+ per month for rent just like the rest of us. Let them pay the difference for the people who need it, or better yet, tell the people who cannot qualify to find a new place to live. Perhaps one of the properties they own.

Since they have been dealing with this budget issue for a year now, tell me exactly what Peter has accomplished in the past 2 years. I don't mean things that were already funded and planned, but new projects that you can point to that have been planned and started in that timeframe.

In response to Watchmaker who said:

It's not about the platform, it's her inability to finish things right, and it's the baggage she brings with her. As I've posted in another thread, she's like Bush in 2000: a lot of good ideas, but horrible execution and plenty of murky characters behind her.

To recap: her testimony in her depositions back in 2007 was so completely incoherent, it was scary (http://hoboken411.com/archives/17714). Her voting record is inconsistent: first she votes for a PILOT for luxury condos, then no on a PILOT for affordable housing. First she votes against the big budget, then she abstains. First she’s a parks person, then does nothing for the parks in her ward in two years. First she paints the bike lanes, then doesn’t ensure that people don’t park in them.

Add to this that her closest allies are the most vindictive people in town, who feel jealous they were left out of the Roberts administration (Cammarano at least intends to bring on new young professionals) and you see trouble ahead.
