Unofficial start of Summer 2010

5/27/2010:

What does it mean to you?

Although Summer begins on June 21st again this year, Memorial Day Weekend typically signifies the “Unofficial” start of the summer season. That usually means beach houses open up, summer hours for some office workers, and time to start flaunting those tight bodies many have been working hard all winter to show off.

Long Weekend – Hooray!

More importantly – it’s a much anticipated long weekend for most!

So what do you have in store for this Memorial Day Weekend?

Whatever you decide – I wish all of you a safe & joyful Holiday weekend.

Me? I have my fun & games when most people aren’t looking (yeah, I’m sneaky like that) – and my plans are totally up in the air. I’d probably pick the “impromptu” answer in the poll above. Ya never know what might transpire!

For the last two cups I was in the city – we’d hit Manchester Pub on 2nd Ave and do some of the late night/early morning games other places. Worst case scenario: I’ll sit my ass on the couch and watch at home. But it’d be great if some of our locals held events in support of our team.

SECOND STOP: DUNKIN DONUTS!

Awesome. Hey – know if there are any bars in Hoboken that are going to be doing any events around the first match (US/Eng)? Aside from just showing the game, that is.

Mulligan’s is always a good spot for matches, in my opinion. Most people are there to watch the game. I don’t know about the other spots.

Nevada Smith’s on 3rd in Manhattan is a Mecca, but it gets WAY too crowded to enjoy. I nearly passed out at an FA Cup final three years ago, but it was so crowded I had nowhere to fall.

I think I am going to end up at Amity Hall in Manhattan with some buddies for the US/Eng match. People coming from around the area and want public transportation…

There are about a dozen or so good spots in Manhattan… depending on affiliation. Lots of English support and some Real Madrid and Barca spots. Going through a material-possessions purge for our upcoming move (in town). Seven years in the same apartment is a long time…

The summer starts June 12, 2010, with England v. United States. Taking the second half of June off of work to watch plenty of footy while drinking during daylight. Anyone who wants can find me at Mulligans. 😉
