Hello,
I;ve never had any construction done in Hoboken and all I hear is horror stories of obtaining permits, and shabby contractors. Especially contractors that take forever to finish and do crappy jobs. I need a recomendation for a contrator to gut renovate my bathroom. Good craftmanshop adn attention to detail and fairly priced. And do contractors take care of the permits needed? I aso hear ALOT about folks you do the renovation on the DL. ANy referrals or advice? HELP?! Many thanks in advance.

Re 9.: Steve Nuding, in town, has a great reputation for installing windows. Especially if it’s an older building.

you never mentioned price. also, you would be wise to compare the quality of the windows you buy. when Pella gave you a quote did they do it over the phone or did they come to the house? you looking for double hung or casement? if double hungs are you trying to replicate the rest of the existing windows? thermo panes? argon gas insulated? any special coatings? internal shades can save alot of money on heating bills along with the gas insulated panes. and what about cladding? you want a POS vinyl frame or a solid wood frame? cladding on the wood? real stiles or the sh1t plastic inlays?
lots of variables in a quote…not to mmention it sounds like they will actually DO a 4th floor install. trust me, there is no way to live with a bad install. the water damage can cost tens of thousands.

We are working with Home Depot design center on redoing our kitchen. They have contractors they recommend but encouraged us to get our own quotes as their labor is on the high side. Can anyone recommend a contractor that could install cabinets, run new wiring and run a water line to the frig? We are not moving any connections just new appliances, cabinets and counter tops. Thanks!!

you are investing in your home? good for you! probably getting great deals on appliances too!….if HD is specing out the cabinets and giving you a measured plan for base cabinet spacing why don’t you do it yourself? it is not tough. consider the guys that do it for a living…
the appliances can be iinstalled in a few minutes each for the mmost part. the water line to the fridge is a simple tap into the copper cold line under the sink…the toughest part is shimming the cabinets. take your time and it’s a no brainer. for the tops…i will not intall stone myself. make them carry it and install it and get a guarantee against cracks. do it yourself and save a $grand.
