WTC site “shrinking?”
The Port Authority released a plan this week that will effectively cut the size of the WTC site 50% from it’s original master plan.
The PA wants to scale back the plan for the new World Trade Center to include just two signature skyscrapers, according to the NY Daily News. The current plan calls for five towers. Port Authority officials are at odds with developer Larry Silverstein, who wants to move ahead with the five towers. The revised proposal calls for eliminating one tower and reducing the height of two towers to five-story “stumps,” leaving two of the original towers.
NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg has called a summit later this week so the parties can discuss the dispute.
What do you think the problem is here? Plan too ambitious? Bit off more than they could chew? Bad timing? Greed? Deflecting responsibility?
