Retropix: St. Matthews Church

[Continuing the ORIGINAL Hoboken411 “Photo of the Day” series… RETROPIX WEEK!!]

Retropix of the Day – 5/17/2009

Finishing up Retropix week here on Hoboken411 – is an undated postcard of St. Matthews Church (8th and Hudson).

My god, it just seems so much more “mighty” in this picture than it does today, right?

They look metallic and I bet they were nice lightning rods, which could have been a reason for removing those. 🙂

I’m not sure what they are called, but the “points” are what are missing from the columns and around the steeple, which I think takes away from the majestic appearance of the structure.
