5/5/2009:
Hoboken411 reader Ron (AKA “Polka Dot”) sent in this picture of him and his crew performing at this past weekends Arts & Music Festival.
Hoboken411 reader photo of the day – 5/5/2009
“The festival was GREAT … it was the wettest, and fun-est one I’ve ever done, and I go way back to 1999 with these things! We rigged up a tent over the stage, hung tarps, etc. and ran sound out of the back of an old school bus … the most amazing thing were the crowds we had! We played four sets!”

[Stay tuned for tomorrow's Readerpix entry! - Note: one reader's photo(s) will be featured each day at approximately 11am. Unless your photo is time-sensitive - it will be published in the order it was received! Additional note: Your pictures will have a better chance of being published if they're in "landscape" mode, as opposed to the taller "portrait" modes... ]

True. It was nice to see audiences in spite of the rain.
I also liked that Polka Dot played fun tunes like Van Halen’s “Jump” versus the usual fluffy kid stuff.

I felt bad for the bands. The couple of times I was down at the end where the stage was, their sound really suffered from being under the tent.

If they’re going to make this tent a permanent thing, maybe they might consider investing in a couple of spotlights so people can actually see the musicians. I was about halfway back and because it was overcast the Box Tops looked like they were playing in silhouette.

No problem on the north side. Joe Taino was rocking and the sound people were great. They pinned it just right.
Too bad more folks couldn’t be out to enjoy it. Joe did a rendition of “Riders on the Storm” I’ve never heard him do before. It was excellent.
