Sgt., I don't like generalizations and accusations without specifics. My only knowledge regarding this property is from what was posted on 411.

Wow there is some work going into that building - will look very nice once complete. Interesting video also, looking forward to seeing the next part.

One last point, if I were living in the connecting buildings I'd probably be asking a couple of questions...

Sgt. I suggest that your resolution should be to not assume too much; ex. that it was an inside job and a 'crooked city hall employee'. And to check things out before you opine about your friend's opinion that this house is 'huge'. :!:

Truth1, sorry I cant post every 15 minutes. That will be my resolution in 2010.

As for the contractor, I could care less what you do on this block or any other. Im sure you're probably an honest company but Im just basing my comments on many stories Ive gathered from this site and friends I've met in town.... btw, you're site and work is very respectable from the video. So I hope you can sleep better now.

For the record, I was amazed that an elevator would be put in there and never said anything against it. (we know now, there's no elevator) just curious.

Thank you for your interest in looking at our web site and your comments. You certainly more than understand the dynamics of how a construction job functions. We wish more people had intellegence you exhibit and did their homework before starting rumors. we sincerley thank you. alfonso

I dont know this guy from Adam but based on what I saw on his website this is not an oversized addition. It is a job that is really similar to one I just did myself. From what I saw in the few minutes of videos I watched he is doing it by the book and using some of the better yet more expensive building methods and not cutting corners. The problem looks like the old building was a dump and he needed to take it all the way down and start from scratch.

We live in the city - building houses takes demo saws, cement mixers, jack hammers, drills, compressors, framing nailers and in some cases pile drivers. All the deliveries come on desiel trucks that make annoying noises when they back up. I know when I build houses I like to lay as low as possible but is easier said then done.

For those that live near it looks like the building is nearly closed in, that should help a lot as inside work of course is more quiet.

bmoc mentions the neighbors getting letters that is another sign he is doing it by the book. If you were on the inside you wouldnt bother with that..

Also for the huge addition - I can almost guarantee he only added 20'. He has on his website a framing video and skip out to 1:58 there is a shot of the block for the addition space. Looks like about 15 blocks in each course. At 16" a block that is 240 inchs or 20'.

From what I can see the old building was a dump. Looks like he took it all the way down to the foundation because the building was likely out of level. I will not too technical but the way he secured the ledger to the block with the anchors and the hilti glue is one of the best ways to do it but certainly more expensive then other methods. Not the method of a corner cutter.

As far as rolling the fire trucks common sense says to error in the side of caution and get the trucks rolling if anything appears out of wack. Better to have the trucks rolling then to not call them and have a small problem torch the neighborhood..
