kal-el, no hard feelings. i just don’t see it the way you see it. there are not many places where 5 “kids” are living together, unless it’s a 5 bedroom – but let’s just say that’s true. The laws in the city are written so that those 5 kids, that have a hoboken address, can all get a permit to park on the street. I know you might not believe it, but some of us people in our 20s work our asses off every day too. If you’re living paycheck to paycheck, maybe you should find cheaper housing. Or maybe you should save money on gas on walk to the grocery store with a granny cart like a lot of “kids” do in town. parking is tough in this town, that’s why when I moved here and when my wife moved in with me, we bought the cart so that if we didn’t find a spot, we could cart our groceries to the apartment. Now, we have been fortunate enough to waste money each year on an apartment with a garage spot, but I like the convenience, and my wife gets home from work after 9, which would be impossible for her to find a spot within a 10 block radius, let alone 4. bottom line is, double parking is illegal for a variety of reasons – so i don’t think it’s fair for anyone to do it ever, especially when it’s occurring right in front of law enforcement’s face… Read more »

brady, don’t get me wrong im one of the first to say to myself” someone might die in a fire tonight cause this person is double parked” so i apologize for coming on like an asshole on the first post. but there has to be some kind of in between. like i said is it fair that you have all these kids living in an apartment or condo like 5 of them splitting bills all of them with cars taking up 5 spaces, compared to family guy with 3 kids living right next door working my ass off every day living paycheck to paycheck come home with the kids and a couple bags of grocerys and cant find a spot for a 4 block radius ? anyway i think this issue got blown out of portion , sorry for that and thanks for the website i might even order 2 wonderwheels 1 for when i take the kids to the beach the toys alone are a payne in the ass to carry 😀

kal-el, i think you double parking in that situation is also wrong, though it’s less wrong and it’s pretty quick. problem is – what if everyone with a car decided to do the same thing? the streets would be impassable. there are reasons there are laws.

what if in the 5 minutes you wanted to unload your groceries, there was a fire on your block, and a truck couldn’t pass through? what if someone died in that fire?

and no – i don’t know who the people are. all i know is it’s the same cars, and it’s always outside of Maggie’s Place. I am not friendly with any of the customers there, so I don’t know who these people are. It creates an unsafe bottle neck and it creates traffic. they should get tickets, just as anyone that a cop sees double parked should get a ticket. unless it’s an emergency, there’s no reason for you to break the law.

i don’t see how people can go through life with such self-entitlement that the rules don’t apply to them.
