Hobokenpix: Playing in garbage?

[Continuing the ORIGINAL Hoboken411 “Photo of the Day” series…]

Hoboken Photo of the Day – 4/21/2009

Don’t get me wrong – I dig the new Uptown Commerce Center (or Peachtree, or whatever the “name of the week” is) and hope it fills up with fun businesses very soon. However, owner Mike Gorman is experiencing a bit of a problem up there. The small foliage area on the north side of the property – is being used and abused by inconsiderate dog owners. So he installed various courtesy signs around the property to remind folks to pick up after their animals.

But this sign installed on a trash bin just made me laugh. “Children Play Here.”

Not sure about you, but I cannot recall asking my mom “Can I go out and play by the garbage and parking lot curb? Pretty please?” ever in my life.

This cracks me up.

So first people complain that dog owners don’t pick up their dog’s shit. And now there are only CERTAIN trashcans to put poop in? If its contained in a garbage can, it poses no threat. And if a child is climbing into a garbage can, well then the person who should be watching the kid is an idiot.

I am saying children shouldn’t be playing outside that particular daycare due to the danger to the children. It is a parking lot bordered on 3 sides by roads. Basically, cars all around. Not sure about you, but that is the last place I want kids playing. Nothing but trouble.
Is there a day care in that strip mall? If so, Yes, children play there.
There will be a daycare there, but doubt children will be “playing there” – there is no park there. Any daycare that lets kids play in or near a parking lot should be immediately shut down. They are just asking for trouble.

If I have my location correct, yes there is, or is about to be, a daycare there.
