Starbucks delivery ruckus

3/30/2009:

Some residents uptown have issues sleeping due to deliveries in the middle of the night. Are you one of them?

Hoboken411 reader Jeremy E. shares his troubles below…

More noisy disturbances for light sleepers

“The excessive noise that the garbage men of Hoboken produce when doing their job (at 1-2am) is bad enough. However, I now have a different problem and wonder how other residents feel about it.

I live in the Shipyard Building (South Vanguard) which is right above the Starbucks. Every other night starting on Tuesday anywhere between 12am and 1am, Starbucks gets their shipment of dairy products from Bartlett Dairy. Upon arrival of the 18 wheeler on 12th street near the corner of Hudson Street, they seem to always blow their air horn. This is then followed by them throwing cases of milk out of the truck onto a hand truck, dragging of the hand truck to the store, throwing of the hand truck back into the truck, and finally, slamming of the truck’s door. This wakes me, my wife, and my children up every night. Keep in mind that I am on one of the top floors yet I still hear it. I would love to know how the residents on the lower floors deal with this.

Recently, I have contacted Starbucks and Bartlett Dairy to complain. So far there has been no resolution. There must be some kind city law that does not allow for 18 wheelers to be parked on 12th street. Parking on Shipyard Lane would be much better.

Thanks for the time. I need to put an end to my family’s insomnia.

Sincerely,
Jeremy E., Sleep Deprived Hoboken Resident

The truly frugal folks make coffee at home and see a coffee out as a treat, which is what it should be. A $30 Mr Coffee can make millions of cups of coffee for pennies apiece.

I believe the lowest denomination Starbucks accepts is $5 USD. So, pennies, nickels, and dimes, as well as $1 are no good there.

MickeyDees will though. Their ice coffee isn’t horrible.

who could spend a dime in Starbucks? even a simple coffee costs $2… to say nothing of a half-caf, no foam, skinny mocha-frappa-carmel-latte-chino.
