Readerpix: Kid’s Music Show!

A Hoboken411 Readerpix bonus:
Shannon bumped into this impromptu rock show on 3rd and Washington… Permit or not – I’d never be able to give these kids a ticket! Wish more kids played real instruments – rather that Rock Band on PS3.

Something is weird about these kids and their father hovering around them. They do not look happy and the music is not good. They are too young to be out on the street playing music, nothing at all against them, its the father’s motives I question.

Is this the same family of kids that ride in a bike caravan through the streets with flashing lights?

Yes, this is weird. I’ve seen em. I feel sad for these kids. They look uncomfortable and miserable. The father should stop trotting them out like this. It’s abuse.

I saw them on the PATH a month or two ago, riding WTC–>HOB. When on the train, they looked really unhappy to be carting all this equipment around and having to play their music.
Maybe it was the end of a long day for them? Or maybe their creepy-looking father really is making this hard for them…?

Well
What do we all do about it. I don’t have an answer, but I see how I could be part of the problem because I do think something is fundamentally wrong with this situation, it just ain’t natural. But I really don’t know if I should contact some authorities, what authorities to contact and at some real level I don’t want to get that involved. But it bugs me. Kitty Genovese

411, One more thing, this is not an “impromptu rock show”, the Father seems to be taking these little kids all over Hoboken and who knows where else. This is not the Partridge family, this is the Jackson Family.
And a big shout out to 411 for giving the people a voice to get all sorts of things out there in the Public, really how freaking cool is 411 compared to any other media outlet in this whole area. My own advice is too stay away from all the political BS. There is stuff like this that only a place like 411 can bring out to the open.

Those kids are watching the people walk by.
Can you imagine what they’re seeing?
They see the homeless on their way from the PATH to the shelter. They see teenage idiots with those pants still hanging down past their ass. Chatty girls on cellphones. The occasional person who stops for a minute or two, looks at his watch and walks away.
I hope Dad pays attention to the crowd watching his children. We have a few WHACKOS in town.
I’m liking this less and less.

Just because they are playing music live in town doesn’t mean they wouldn’t notice this stuff anyway. You know, we all get corrupted. Prolonging innocence isn’t exactly a virtue.
I disagree with the forced playing. But they are probably learning some valuable skills. Are they being abused in this instance?

It surprises me how rude some people are on here. Do any of you KNOW this family? I see a father spending time with his children, a rarity in today’s world. Have any of you ever spoken to them? I have. I know that the oldest boy is the kid who won the Hudson County Science Fair last year and he ADORES playing for the “crowds”, as do his other siblings! I have seen this family all over Hoboken, and they are the nicest group of kids I have met in a long time. Polite, intelligent, talented, they can play for me anytime! ROCK ON!!!

so invite them over to your house and get them off our city streets. Buskers need a permit in this town.
