Hoboken Photo of the Day – 3/28/2009

Something very soothing about this picture of the gated park area near Harborside Lofts uptown. Makes me just want to lay down in the grass and stare at the clouds. Very relaxing!
Responding to Brady, # 33 — I agree with you very much on the litter part. I have had some extra time on my hands recently (sigh) and went for a solo drive to a different part of the area looking for a cool food store. On the way home, I couldn’t believe how much garbage is strewn in the streets of northern New Jersey, especially the state routes/highways. Good lord, this entire area is positively BURIED in garbage. It’s everywhere. If I were an archaeologist 10,000 years from now, I’d say that the people who lived did not have garbage middens (fancy word for a dump), unlike everywhere else we’ve dug. Instead, they lived in the garbage dump itself. Folks, it’s not like this elsewhere. Really, it’s not. Most of North America is not buried ankle deep in garbage and dog shit and graffiti. Most of it is quite clean, including the urban areas. There must be something fundamentally broken with the population around here. Walking up the streets here I’ve seen folks just drop stuff. Just. Drop. It. Never mind the garbage cans on the corner of every block, they just drop their trash. Broad daylight, weekday, eating something from the corner store and then … drop.
if you ever take a drive to 280 – by route of 1&9 – talk about garbage. it’s pathetic really. it’s a shame. I see it in front of my apartment building, on the street. it’s just complete lack of… Read more »

This is actually one of my biggest “WTF???” things about around here. I never saw this in the ‘burbs where I grew up. Nor did I see it at my college. Philly is not even as dirty as northern NJ (with litter anyway). It’s unbelievable to me how careless people are.

brady- Yes, I do remember. I’m not worked up about dog poop. I’ve stopped getting worked up about a lot of things lately. I’m trying to remain chillaxed.

Some of us parents out there do our best to keep them in line and well behaved. Really, we do. So, I interpreted Mein Kampf, “my struggle,” as the world’s smallest violin playing a pity song for poor daddy trying to keep his kid from stepping in dog shit. And then here comes PAPA BEAR! RAWRRRR!

Again, my apologies.

OK, time for bmac to get some decaf.
awww – but picking your nose is so cute. lol. enjoy the decaf.
