I don't speak for her. Go ask her yourself.

By the way, one of the most destructive things that could happen to the Kids First ticket is to turn it into a Mayoral race political football.

If you want to see Maureen, Ruthy and Theresa elected then get to work on their campaign and get people you know to get involved and pay attention. Prattling away about others "What the F" will do nothing to get these women elected.
Red, it is ironic that you wrote that bit about "prattling away" because you sure seemed to do a lot of prattling away when you railed on Peter Cunningham time and time again last year for not endorsing Ines in the freeholder race. How is that any different?

The elections are a state issue. NJ has BOE elections throughout on the same day with those odd hours. It's almost designed to keep the majority of us out of the process.
Can someone answer the question why we have the BOE election and the mayoral/council election on different days?
To keep politics out of the school system.

Ha!
...better turnout (maybe this is why they're not) if all were done at once.
Now you've got it.

Margaret - I am confused. When Maureen, Ruth and Teresa propose ideas and pursue improvement in the district, you say or imply that they are meddling moms who should just stay out of the School business, but you go on to write that "parents who are active and who care, especially the fathers who get involved with their own children in the system" should be elected. Now, as I don't know a single "father" of a current public school child running in the current election, who is it you want elected - parents who are involved (aka, these three moms) or the current men/fathers running for the Board? Also, why should the moms stay home in the kitchen and the fathers be the ones in charge - isn't that a bit old-dated in terms of parenting roles? You also seem to have an issue with the PTOs - exactly how has anything any of the PTOs said ever become politicized or been publicized to the community? And how is disagreement with the Board and Administration always a bad thing? Hasn't history taught us that we must at times question authority to make sure the right things are done for all instead of the few or the privileged?
Why don't they just stay out of the School business and let the
parents who are active and who care, especially the fathers who get involved with their own children in the system, get elected.
Kids First is POLITICS FIRST..and the rest of the board is catching up. MOSTLY the PTA's and O's were in disagreement with the board many times in the past. This includes the Superintendant and has always. Parent's beware of politics in the system, and that hasn't changed in five decades...
That is a shame...and the reason that many do NOT vote in BOE
elections. Now that the taxes are the way they are maybe that will change and more people will come out, see who is actually doing the work to better the system, and vote accordingly. I hope so!
Margaret, you ARE a kidder, a regular knee-slapping hoot! Who writes your material?

So, Poopie is out there on the battlefield atop a white stallion, jousting with those evil, lazy, politically-ambitious mommies, protecting the right of Hoboken's affluent to educate their young in Spanish on the taxpayer's dime!

Yes, those horrible, selfish politically-ambitious mommies, a.k.a. Kids First, had the absolute NERVE to challenge Poopie's noble quest for private school parents to realize their dual-language dreams!!! Imagine that! Those wicked mommies thought that "new programs" unspent cash ought to be spent on our struggling middle and high schoolers- for tutoring and SAT prep, for example! My G-d, the horror! But Poopie, a man who lacks ANY political aspirations whatsoever, fought hard for these voters, uh... I mean, "parents" so that their little ones could avoid the horrible fate of private school tuition (although the implementation of such a program would radically expand the size of our public school systems (projected 20 new classrooms) at a time when City Hall is bust, and we are paying 47% more in property taxes)... what a visionary that man is!!! He sees opportunity where others see facts!

And those disgraceful, limelight-seeking Kids First mommies want to use our money where it is NEEDED and raise the performance of our schools... what are they nuts?

Margaret, you are so on the ball. Keep it up, please.... for the sake of our children!
I myself feel very frustrated and upset by the sorry state of affairs in our economy. I took out a 30 year fixed mtg and only bought what I could afford. I turned down taking on a bigger mtg because I wanted a mtg I would feel comfortable with, I don’t have cc debt, I pay my bills on time, I drive a used car and have had it for 10 years. Is anyone going to reward me for being responsible???? No, instead, my bonus has been taken away and raises frozen. Yes, I do have a high paying job and significant savings but if the tide of the city doesn’t change - I, like everyone else will be in for more trouble. My investment - my house - will continue to drop in price. Taxes will continue to increase and I will find myself stuck in this town that is riddled with corruption.

Don’t get me wrong, I love this town, but what I have seen and heard in City Hall and the Boe makes me very nervous.

I had a shore house - not anymore, I had a mercedes - not anymore, never had parking or a $1300 mtg. However, I wouldn’t live in CT or Marineview if you gave it me - Nor would I want to frequent Belmar - those places are good enough for the Russhitz and Labrainless but I have much higher standards.

BOE Election Tuesday, April 21 Vote for Theresa, Ruth and Maureen.

30% of your tax dollars go to the failing schools in this town.

$60 million budget for approx. 2000 students

538 school admins. for 5 schools.

Better Schools = Higher Property Values.

Protect your Investment. Vote for the Theresa, Maureen and Ruth

Vote Tuesday, April 21 - 2-9 PM
Definitely vote and try and register your friends and neighbors and get them to vote Kids First as well
