“Not so” Tree City USA

Hoboken411 reader Jason sent in some pics of the removal of a tree by City Hall and said “Well, Hoboken lost one more tree today. This morning around 8:30 they began cutting down one of the big trees behind city hall. At 10:00 it was all over. I hope they plant a few to make up for it!”
They should chop down the rest of the dead weight inside that building.
They — the subject in that quotation — won’t do squat for you.

If you want anything done, you must do it yourself.

Hoboken is definitely Tree City, USA. Anytime you want something done, you gotta pay off tree guys. You want that speeding ticket to disappear? Tree hundred. We have how many more principals than schools? Tree.

I took the pictures and its true the tree was dead. There is one just south of it that is holding up well. I really don’t see why Hoboken calls itself Tree City USA, its a bit of a stretch. I would love to see the next administration make a real effort to plant more trees in Hoboken. They keeps our buildings and streets cooler during the summer, they help clean our air and just generally improve quality of life. Newark between Bloomfield and Garden is a desolate, not a single tree just paved in spaces where they pulled them. I think I will run for Mayor on a tree planting platform.

that is truly a shame. i really liked that tree. it turned bright yellow in the fall and when the sun was coming thru the leaves around 3pm it would really make your day from your vantage point on a bar stool at mcswiggans. that really sucks. how could it have been dead? maybey it just need pruning? this city really blows when it comes to taking care of anything that is good.
