New Hoboken wine-tasting business

Long time Hoboken resident Debra Marchese has launched a new business called Winerium.

The nature of the business is corporate and private wine tasting events, such as birthdays, holidays, casual parties and business functions.

Winerium takes care of the whole experience from top to bottom – whether a small gathering with 8-10 people, or larger events with 30 or more attendees. She’ll help you identify a theme, bring the wine, informational tasting cards, glassware, and even cheeses, sweets and other food – so you can pay attention to your guests and have a great time.

Nice idea but wine tastings fall squarely in the category of discretionary spending so I can’t imagine there’s much demand right now. But perhaps she can make it through a couple lean years and be in better shape for when things turn around.

Astor Wine and Spirits in NYC does these as well, as does Italian Wine Merchants.

Actually I went to an event just about two weeks ago at Union Square Wines where we met Dan Ackroyd who has just launched his own wine. It was alot of fun he was super nice and autographed our bottles. They have tastings and events there as well super easy to get to via PATH or subway if you work in the city.
