Wind helps city earn more money!

2/13/2009:

No, not by saving on electrical costs with a fancy wind-farm along the Hudson River – but parking tickets blown off cars!

Wind + Lazy city workers = $10 more per ticket!

One Hoboken411 reader picked these tickets up near Elysian Park yesterday afternoon, after the strong winds blew them a block or more away from where they were issued.

I believe that if they were properly placed on the vehicles (i.e., under the windshield wiper), this problem would have been avoided.

(I’ve also added the details of these tickets to the “found parking tickets” section as well.)

Wind is not even a factor most of the time. The parking folks are too lazy to get out of the little scooter they ride around in so they slide the ticket into the slot between your hood and the front quarter panel. Come on, really? Get out of the scooter and put the ticket where it belongs! Do you know how many notices I’ve gotten in the mail for tickets that I’ve never seen??? They are actually considered “bench warrants” for failure to appear in court or pay the ticket. And they tack on a nice late fee too. City’s gotta make money somehow I guess.
