2009 Valentine’s Day Poll
Hallmark Holiday Victim?
Do you still feel social pressure to participate in “Hallmark Holidays” such as Valentine’s Day?
I don’t get why after all these years, humans still follow these trends because “everyone else” is doing it. Yet, those same people yearn for “individuality” by tricking out their iPhones (that many people have) with a colored case. Whoo! I’m different! (Yet the same…)
My belief is – that if you love someone and care about them, you’ll show it whenever and however you want, without the pressure and obligation of holidays such as this. My advice: If anyone gives you grief about not getting anything? Dump them now.
Valentine’s Day Poll
Sappy stereotypical video
I suppose my motivation for resurrecting this post is because I saw this video for Vermont Teddy Bears the other day… And the way they stereotype the nervous guys (and the hot giggly girls? WTF? – what office is that?):
Lastly, for those that might think my thought process is wrong – as in “Awww, let them have their fun… you don’t have to do it, right?” – perhaps you have a point – and I should just ignore it since it’s not my bag of chips. But I enjoy making my own decisions, and don’t like being told what to do, socially or otherwise. And while this type of ritual is quite common in the human society (i.e., follow most trends) – at the same time so is the right to express my viewpoints and individuality!
Happy Valentine’s Day!!
