Three suicide attempt calls today!

Suffering or just need attention?

Today, there were at least three possible suicide attempts (or “threats”) in Hoboken. What’s going on?

One this afternoon was in the area of 13th and Washington, that was determined to be OK – that a third party called the HPD to express concerns over what was said during a phone call. Then another call this evening at 333 River Street (didn’t sound like anything happened there either.)

The third is happening now down at Pier A – and it sounds like that River Jumper that’s done it before. A call came in “man appears that he’s going to jump in the River…” They’re taking this sad fella to HUMC for observation now.

Is living these days so depressing?

There are many other options for our fellow Hobokenites who are seeking an “exit strategy”… Here are a few……
1. Yell at the next police officer you see coming out of Carlo’s Bakery “HEY your’e never going to catch any criminals if you keep cramming those cannolies and coffee’s down your throat!
2. Lick the floor at 2A.M. on a Saturday Night over at Black Bear.
3. Check yourself in at Hoboken University Hospital for a hangnail.
4. Go over to the projects on Harrison Street and squirt the gang members with a water pistol.

Can anyone think of others? 🙄 ❓
Well the GOOD NEWS for these folks is that with all the development going on, there will be MUCH taller buildings in Hoboken.

Jumping off the pier into the Hudson RIVER?… Silly.

Jumping off the top floor of the W Hotel onto Hudson STREET?….. not so silly.

My point is…. these people should seek higher ground. 8O
They can jump of the next Stevens tower.

It’s a terrible thing no matter what. A lot of people are dealing with circumstances they’ve never had to face, and don’t know how to deal with it. Let’s hope those who are lost can find the help they need.
