Hoboken Photo of the Day – 2/9/2009

OK, OK, we all know the economy is perceived to be “bad” at the moment – and it shows by the number of massive sale signs around Hoboken.

I took about four dozen pictures similar to this – with the proverbial “big sale” notifications throughout the mile square. I picked this one randomly – and have created a poll:

PS – if you have images collecting dust on your camera or hard drive – send them in for eventual inclusion on Hoboken411! Please state how you’d like to be credited in your email, and a description – if desired!!

I shop at Big Fun, too. For gifts, natch.

I also love the Life is Good store.

Big Fun gets my toy money before Toys R Us.

Tunes gets my money before iTunes.

I browse Symposia but it’s so hit or miss, B&N usually wins.

Many restaurants have been cut, but Garden of Eden, Basic and ShopRite get more.

And whatever money remains apparently goes to the parking meter collectors, the early retirement city workers, the scores of six-figured school employees, and God knows who else.

Re: 2., Katie—Maybe that Hallmark store on the E. side of Washington? I think it’s called “Kathy’s.” BigFun might have something, too.

Speaking of local businesses. . .any idea if any business in town sells stick on letters or iron-on letters or bedazzlers? I’d like to buy local rather than go to Wal Mart if possible.

Thanks.
