Hoboken Photo of the Day – 2/5/2009

Rarely does a meal I eat deserve the “Hoboken Photo of the Day” entry – but my oh my!

The other day, I had lunch over at Mikie Squared (616 Wash) – and chose a typical hamburger as my order. I was literally thrilled because I never realized how tasty these hamburgers were! The flavor and texture of the meat was outstanding. I didn’t even need toppings.

In speaking with the owners – they said it took them weeks to perfect the recipe. Kudos across the board! You gotta try it!

I’m definitely putting Mikie Squared in the “to go” burger rotation. Mmmm!

Truglio’s is an old-school butcher that has great quality meats and great owners – Joe and Steve (and also Dennis who works for them) – who will do you order as you want and go to the meat market in the city every day.

Shout-out for Truglio’s. They’ve given me some good stuff when I’ve been there. And, ya gotta admire a team of fellas who work with big slabs of raw animal and large, sharp blades.

x3 – love truglios. lot of restaurants around town get their steaks etc from here. just the nicest, old-school guys – you feel like you have been going in there for 30 years when you walk in the door. you can get cold cuts as well and they will cut you up nice chicken breasts however you like them. their business has to be hurting because the restaurants are probably ordering less food. support these guys – they deserve it -

Because joking about going to Hudson Tavern with my cat (or husband or friend) “clearly” indicates that we’re all doing each other.

Every chance I get to praise Truglio’s I do. They are true, professional butchers and really know their cuts. The quality is very high. They are the only place I use in town.

Mikie Squared serves just about the best French toast in Hoboken.
