Hoboken burglaries on the rise!

2/4/2009:

In addition to hearing a noticeable increase in “Cold B&E’s” (breaking and entering – i.e., burglaries) on the Hoboken411 Live Police and Fire Action Channel – one Hoboken411 reader (John Tuttle) has something to add:

hoboken-burglars-are-screwed.jpg

Be alert, for god’s sake!

“Hoboken Citizens:
Within the past few weeks there have been a number of burglaries north of 9th street and between Hudson and Park.

The most recent one was today between the times of 11am and 1pm on Garden St. If anyone has seen any suspicious activity within this area or know of who the culprits are please let us know.

Sincerely,

A Concerned Hudson County Committeeman!”

Based on what John said, I think it’s time for us to collectively start becoming more AWARE of what’s going on in our neighborhoods.

Keep in mind with the “suffering” economy, crime will undoubtedly increase. Unless, of course, we do something about it. So whether you’re unemployed, or have the day off – keep your eyes open, and report ANYTHING that looks suspicious. (Think: “Better safe than sorry,” or “That’s what the police are for, right?”)

That, of course, depends on whether or not you’re aware of your surroundings, neighborhood and what “normal circumstances” are. If you’re obsessed with your phone or iPod – then perhaps you’re next on the list of victims. WAKE UP!!

Any advice would be appreciated.

katie scarlett they make a portable system that is called the laser shield. I do not know the link but Google it. It is totally portable and you can use it with or without the monitoring. I am not sure how well it works but it is probably better then nothing. It works on motion detectors that are wireless. It actually looks similar then my brinks system. Hope this is helpful.
I filled out a form online for Brinks to contact me I’m getting nervous about being robbed
Congrats, but do not panic. A system does give you peace of mind. The decals they provide are also a great deterrent. If they see the sign on your door they will probably move on to the next place. Beware of false alarms hoboken pd do not like that.I know from experience. If you have any animals the tech should be aware. Animals may trip the sensors and create false alarms.

If you are tied into a alarm central office, they call the cops, you must deactivate the transitter before you move the portable system. And when you reinstall in the new location you put the sensors but up and make new arrangements with the alarm co and reactivate the system. If you use the same alarm co there shoulding be any extra charge. This is all done over existing telephone wires.
