Public Auction this Friday

1/26/2009:
Considering many Hoboken residents are feeling the crunch of the economic woes the country’s been facing – you might be interested in this week’s Public Auction, taking place on Friday, January 30th at 11am (in the court room / city council chambers of City Hall).

Bikes, cars, even a fire truck!
In addition to abandoned and unclaimed bicycles and cars – the city is also auctioning off “surplus equipment,” including some classic cop-style cars (“crown vics”), trucks and fire department vehicles. They have a 1987 Mack Fire Truck (bidding starts at $1000 for that one!) Imagine trying to park that sucker?
A total of 40 bikes, 15 city vehicles and 3 cars are available.

Nothing would bring me greater joy than ownership of a firetruck.

If you win it, be sure you only park it on corners, so no one with a stop sign can see if any cars are oncoming.

Uh-oh. 9 has made me even happier with the thought of what I could do with a firetruck!

Just make sure you don’t leave your GPS in it.
Actually, I have another idea: Use it to move the car and the motorcycle owned by the douche lick who thinks he owns those parking spots on Bloomfield.

O.k., 9. But only after I get to announce:
“Hi. My name is mooshu, and I own a firetruck.”

I might be the only bidder for all of Hoboken. If my $1 top bid wins, I’m changing the name of the town to SexInTheCityRejects.

A lot of screwball volunteer firemen buy fire trucks to restore and play with. And then there are groups that buy them to restore. And then there is a third group and they are rural fire depts that restore and use them.

And then there’s Hoboken who would lease it from whoever they sold it to, but at a higher rate than what they sold it for.
