Hoboken gets “zapped!”

1/24/2009:

Pummeled with “greasy” debris!

Any of you that woke up this morning to go on your morning jog or coffee run must have noticed the plethora of “Zap Lube and Car Wash” fliers all over the city!

Similar to a military propaganda campaign, the enterprising guys of Zap Lube must have put an advertisement on each and every car in Hoboken. Now, with many people just tossing them off their car, coupled with the windy day – the entire city is littered with these obnoxious ads.

In addition to the stiff fine they should get – considering they’re a “lubrication” company – they should also be forced to fix the moaning Hoboken recycling trucks as well.

To hell with ZapLube!!

Its unbelievable. This city has opportunities to raise revenue that most other municipalities would kill for. And they take full advantage! And yet residents still get hammered in taxes.
I’m getting pretty off topic here, but I’ll just say this and be done. The reason the city kills the residents with taxes is simple- they can. The only people paying extraordinary taxes are the “new people” and guess who doesn’t vote – the “new people”. New people means anyone not born and raised here. Period. Sickening, no?

Ha! Why would the city want to do that when they can just raise property taxes to increase revenue? :?
ROFL . . .were you not here for the great st. paddy’s day debacle of 2007? $1000 for open containers no matter who you were (ok let’s get real, if you were not connected). This city loves to fine the hell out of people AND raise property taxes.
Maybe. But isn’t Zap littering by places unwanted debris on my car? If so, how can you have two litterers and only one piece of litter?

You may be right about the reasonable person standard, but I think it could be easily argued in the reverse: that it would be entirely reasonable to foresee that a good many people would simply fling the thing onto the road.
Before continuing down this path, we’d have to figure out the definition of littering (statute). The reason for this is simple:
1. Who can be held responsible- the business or the actual person placing the ad on the windshield?
2. If putting it on the windshield constitutes litter, does the policeman have to see who put it there, or can he/she just fine Zaplube for littering.
3. If the definition is dropping refuse on the ground, then zap is in the clear and car owner is screwed.

That all said, who are we kidding, in this town you can probably fine zap, the person who put it on the car, the guy who dropped it and the person walking down the street who saw the whole thing. :P
You all need to stop complaining and drive the Waaaabulance someplace else. On Saturday I brought the flier in and they were so amazed that their flier-campaign brought in some buisness they gave me a discount on the tune-up serive.
