Midtown CVS alarm is a nuisance

1/16/2009:

Hoboken411 received several emails about the recent alarm over at the CVS Pharmacy on Clinton Street.

CVS store alarm screws us up!

One reader said:
“I live right next to the CVS near 9th/Clinton. Every day for about the last four days, the CVS store alarm has gone off around 6:15am. Sometimes it stays on for only 5-10 minutes and other times for much longer. Today it was on for about an hour. It’s quite loud and wakes everyone up. The police are aware and have tried contacting CVS, but apparently nobody answers when they’ve called the emergency contact numbers. Obviously, this is disruptive to neighbors and CVS should do something about fixing their alarm.”

While another said the same thing, but added:
“I can imagine that some of our neighbors with young children were not very pleased.”

I too live right next door and in addition the rude alarm noise, the tow trucks they hire to remove cars at 3:30 – 4:30 AM are very annoying. The beep they have when they back up, the gears they use to lift the cars always wake me up. I did call the police and they said there is nothing that can be done about b/c they have a right to tow cars from their lot. My question is why can’t it be at a more normal hour. I would even be satisfied with 6:00 AM. I have stopped shoping there, but wish they did not have such a hold on the town. 3 CVS in a mile square!!

A-hole… what does any parking situation have to do with the hundreds of apartments that are in a one block area that have to listen to that? You big dummy!![/quote]

Free Parking? Where? Can I get some? LMAOOO. If an alarm continuously goes off, isn’t there some type of summons that is issued and increases with the number of occurances? If so, are they receiving them? I’m sure CVS CORP. wouldn’t be too keen on receiving many of these fines.

If it’s been brought to the attention of those in charge at that CVS, I suggest you stop giving them your business. Should you need something that you would usually get from CVS…go elsewhere (RiteAid, local pharmacy/convenience mart, etc.). When a business acts irresponsibly, like it sounds as this CVS has, I make a note not to support.

I do the same thing with businesses too lazy to clear snow & ice from in front of their store. If they wanna be lazy, let em go outta business. Hey, then they can be as lazy as they want when they’re unemployed.
