Lazy folks and poopy Hoboken streets

2/4/2011 Update:

Snow brings dog poop land mines in Hoboken!

Bumping this thread from a while back – about the increasing number of dog droppings in Hoboken that aren’t picked up. Have you noticed it as well?

Hoboken411 reader GIRL – had this to say:

“The mounds of snow and the overall mess in town does NOT entitle dog owners/walkers to ignore the clean up! The pee is one thing (obviously visible in the piles of snow), but the blatant disregard to clean up the dog poop is getting ridiculous. Walk down ANY street you walk down you will find some! Unbelievable. It is unsanitary, and when snow melts the poop stays!!! UGH!”

1/8/2009:

What happened to the dog poop fines?

One Hoboken411 reader is wondering what’s happening with the lazy dog owners that don’t pick up their dog’s fecal output!

“As a dog owner myself I am appalled by the laziness of Hoboken Dog owners. Ever walk on the Southside of 11th Street between Clinton and Willow? There must be 10 big piles of dog poop on the sidewalk and in the tree bases? Who is this lazy person? I also like the people who leave their poop in snow. Dude, when it melts the poop will still be there.”

Maybe it’s time to revive the Hoboken Poop Offender Zone?

Then recently, walking around during a night out with some Hoboken411 readers, one of them stopped and asked me to take a picture of this disgusting corner (8th and Grand). It had piles of bags with dog droppings in it.

She said “How come there are hardly any trash cans around town. There used to be one here. Now lazy dog owners just drop the bags in the spot where the can was! What’s up with that?”

Anyway, after snapping that photo, a group of fine Hoboken residents were walking past us – and they asked me “Are you Hoboken411?” I replied, “Why yes, yes I am – how’d you know?” They replied “Who else would be taking pictures like that at this hour?”

Nice meeting you again, guys!

OK. Some dog owners and walkers are irresponsible pigs. I can understand that.
But still:

A. Stepping on dog poop is a sign of good luck.

B. While it’s unsanitary, it’s not going to stand up and attack you. And iif your kids pick it up and play with it, you’re doing something wrong.

A PIECE A DAY – xxrjxx, I challenge you to pick up a piece a day and our town will remain clean. This applies to both litter and poop. ❗

As I’m walking to work this morning over icy snowy sidewalks, I note several instances of dog sh*t, some of which has been stepped in, one of which was directly in the crossing spot (which was limited because of the snow).

For you dog owners who fail to pick up after your dogs: There is a special place in Hell for you. It consists of you being stuck in a pit of dog sh*t up to your nose if you stand on your tippie toes. You get a break from this, for 15 minutes every eight hours. Break consists of you walking down a landmine filled sidewalk, and yes, inevitably you step in a hot steaming pile, slip and fall. Then it’s back into the pit for the next 8 hour sh*t. I mean shift.

For eternity.

Way Way too much poop on the sidewalks these days. I think it is time for a zero tolerance ticket blitz, it is really out of control. Cannot walk 10 feet without having to dodge dog poop.

I went outside yesterday and took a dump right on the sidewalk and walked away. That’s essentially what the dog owners do…so if you cant beat them, join them.[quote comment=”203062″]Way Way too much poop on the sidewalks these days. Nah, I said I took a dump, nothing about kissing you. Just threw up in my mouth thinking about it though so maybe I will now.

Well, when you have an a-hole for a mouth, it only seems right.[quote comment=”203075″]Nah, I said I took a dump, nothing about kissing you. Just threw up in my mouth thinking about it though so maybe I will now.

You know, I try to envision how “mature” I’ll become once I have children. But you’re not exactly helping here, buddy 😆 .[quote comment=”203116″]Oh boy…what’s next from you? “I know you are buy what am I”? I hope you didnt hurt yourself thinking of this one. The focus here is dog bags but i arrived back in town to find garbage strown all over the snow banks. Even garbage lying next to empty cans. I don’t know how long it has been this way but I did place the bags in the cans in the neighborhood where I live.

What does it say about the people who just stand-in and pass up garbage?

Try sending a note to City hall and hold them accountable for their end of the bargain. Whether you are a renter are homeowner the city needs to hear from you…elsewise all we will hear is what a fantastic job the administration is doing w your tax dollars.
