Roberts in ’01: “I’ll lower taxes!”

1/7/2009:

Promises, Promises

In today’s video clip – we have a much younger looking David Roberts being interviewed as part of a Mayoral Debate on News Channel 12. He boasts about Hoboken’s ratables, and planned on not only keeping the taxes stable – but to lower them.

The tune has changed now, hasn’t it?

did anyone look closely at his video that was shown late last year, sortof an address from the mayor? in it he was reading a printed statement, seated at his desk…

a friend of mine who used to work at City Hall pointed out that over his left shoulder you could see a bunch of things hanging on the wall by the window. My friend tells me they were knee pads. One pair said “Ursa Tarragon.” Another said “Toll Brothers.” Another had “Applied” on it. Reportedly that one was rhinestone encrusted. The elastic in all of them was waaaaayyy stretched out.

Last I heard that Judy Tripodi had seized them. Now I thought her report was due 2 weeks ago. Any news that I missed or is it possible that she is picking up where Davey has left off?

My friend also said that Raia makes Davey pencil in a little thin mustache when they are alone together in his office.

Do you think my friend is messing with me?

Dear Mayor Roberts

You need more than “God’s help” to fix the problems you have been a major part of creating. Why not just be a real man, admit you have been a crappy mayor and let someone else clean up your mess.

Knowing you – if you are re-elected you will continue to hand out (PILOT) tax abatements. You basically whored the city to developers and now the real taxpayers are paying for it; unlike you who are grandfathered into much much lower taxes on all the real estate you own around the city. As a reader of this, one of you should take the time to go through the (publicly available) records and see the minuscle taxes Mayor Roberts pays for his numerous properties he owns around town.

Mayor, I think you meant to say “when pigs fly out of my a**, Hoboken taxpayers will see lower taxes” cause taxes will ONLY continue to go up.

Stop passing the buck and be a real man and finally admit your mistakes, instead of blame, blame, blame others – it didnt work for Bush/Cheney, and it aint working for you.

…he did not balance his budget in six years and this last one tipped the house of cards over. Case concluded…Verdict:Time for change.

to be fair, he did keep taxes stable for awhile. isnt that the whole reason that it had to balloon this year all at once?
