Readerpix: Garage Treasures

1/4/2009:

Hoboken411 reader Deb sent in a few pictures of some great relics found when she moved into her apartment. How about that?

Hoboken411 reader photos of the day – 1/4/2009

“So we moved into this apartment about three years ago (in February, 2006). And we were lucky enough to come across some neat little treasures which seem to have been abandoned in our garage. The first shot depicts a small box filled with buttons and old toys, while the second and third shots display a practically ancient yet beautiful photo album!”

PHOTO GALLERY (HOLD MOUSE OVER IMAGE TO NAVIGATE – 3 PHOTOS IN THIS SET)

[Stay tuned for tomorrow’s Readerpix entry! – Note: one reader’s photo(s) will be featured each day at approximately 11am. Unless your photo is time-sensitive – it will be published in the order it was received! Additional note: Your pictures will have a better chance of being published if they’re in “landscape” mode, as opposed to the taller “portrait” modes… ]

KenOn10 — It was Pasculli. We moved to Hoboken at the end of 1988 and my daughter’s best friend was his niece Nicole. Their first grade teacher at Brandt was Mrs. Fine and the principal was Mr. Spano. Mrs. Fine was one of the best teachers, if not the best teacher, that my daughter had. If the schools had not reorganized in 1989, and Mr. Spano had remained my daughter’s principal, she never would have left the Hoboken public schools.

I agree with the suggestion that the items should be made available to the museum.

One of my welcome-to-hoboken moments: i see a gang of Della Fave supporters marching down Washington, chanting “Della Fave! All the Way!”

As they pass his opponents HQ (Pat Pasculli?) the occupants rush out screaming “F— you yuppie s— heads!” and similar sweet nothings. Totally classy, I tell ya, but somehow I knew who was going to win.

not nice, emarche.

strand, Joe Della Fave ran for mayor in 1988 or 89 (not sure). Whatever “yuppie” means to you, there were plenty of non B&R folks here already. Joe, by the way IS B&R, he just wasn’t good at machine politics. He lost his 2nd Ward Council seat to Michael Shaeffer. Ugh!
