12/29/2008:
Holy Crap – this sounds like it’d be a great episode of “COPS!!”

Ferrari idiot harms himself and others
Here’s the timeline – according to the Hoboken411 Live Police and Fire Action Channel:
6:30pm: Calls come in for a “Drunk male kicking a car near 14th Street”
6:35pm: The man apparently “got into a silver Ferrari – and was heading west on 14th”
6:37pm: “Now heading North on Park”
6:39pm: Hoboken Police catch up with guy over the bridge in Weehawken – apparently struck TWO cars.
6:39pm: Before HPD had a chance to intervene, Drunken Ferrari idiot speeds away, into Weehawken/Edgewater. HPD stays with struck vehicles.
6:42pm: Police dispatch mention that this car was spotted parked earlier by Sushi Lounge on 2nd and Hudson.
6:45pm: Reports come in that this car got into another accident, and FLIPPED OVER in Edgewater.
That’s where it stands now.
What a drunk maroon!!!

yes, actually, i would. Perhaps if the cops had better training and weren’t playing the role of cowboy pumping out bullets into what in your description is an un-armed burgler, then maybe old susie and her five friends would still be alive.
I’m just curious as to what cause the initial complaint, if this guy was really running a muck in the street kicking cars and breaking windows, then fine. But if somebody just saw a guy that ‘looked drunk’ and called the cops on this guy, starting the chase then sorry but I think they have blood on their hands today. Just as the cops who seemingly continued a high speed chase through at least two towns, against police protocol, do as well.

This guy is probably one of the regulars who always post comments about pedestrians causing problems.
Imagine a story about a drunk pedestrian running wildly in town knocking over garbage cans, shrubbery and other pedestrians.
They would just call it Friday or Saturday night.

Here’s a list of comments that were lost due to the roll-back of the database (in order):
Colin:
“So its not the criminals fault? It’s the police who caused all of this”
homeworld:
“Don’t be a snitch! You know, when a woman is raped, it’s usually her fault too, for wearing provocative clothing or being out too late at night.”
mooshu:
“
“Ha! Sad, but true.
Unfortunately, one can take all necessary precautions to prevent certain things from happening to oneself. But in addition to a road (in a scene straight out of a James Bond flick), a drunken or criminal douchebag can be anywhere: in the market over the avocado basket, in a school, in a church, at a housewarming party, at mom’s house, etc.,…
hobores:
“but wait, if the guy had been not run away from the cops, the whole thing would never have happened. isnt that what you are supposed to do? this was probably someone who just bought a new fancy car, was loaded up on his self ego, added 6 martinis to it, thought he owned the world and didnt think he needed to follow the law. in the end, he paid for it. unfortunately Screwing a lot of people in the process. oh wait, that just sounds like Madoff or any other of these corporate crooks (minus the drinks)!”
jscirish27:
“I can’t wait until the Jersey shore scene kicks in again and thus gives the insecure and testosterone driven asshats that now frequent our streets a new place to cruise while looking badass . . .”
moephab:
“Just to let you know, we were heading to Puerto Spain for dinner when this guy stumbled out of Baja. He could barely stand up and was mumbling something. We thought that he was going to relieve himself in front of us. I actually thought it was funny(at this point we didn’t know he was going to drive) Being smokers we had to stay in front off POS Where his car was located. He started to kick and pound on the car, not knowing the car was his we called the police. We were on the phone with the police when he actually got into the car and raced away 60mph down 14th St. I was shocked that he even got into gear. As for feeling guilty about calling. Nope Who knows what would have happened if we hadn’t? How many dead? People Should never drive while drunk”
bradykp:
“kudos to you for calling! don’t listen to the douch that thinks reporting this assholes crime led to the accident. as if he wasn’t going to drive his ferrari a bit past the speed limit when he was impaired with alcohol. if he made it onto an interstate or the turnpike, god knows what could have happened. you may have even saved HIS life. doubt he cares though.”
hobojoe:
“Which begs the question – why was he served drinks to point where he was in the condition he was?”
moephab:
“That’s a question I’d like to hear the answer to”
YipYap:
“over-serving in Hoboken? Surely you jest…”
9:
“Not to beat a dead horse, but if he can afford a Ferrari, he can probably afford a huge tip. That’s why he was overserved.”
jscirish27:
“While there are plenty of responsible and professional bartenders in town, there are also plenty that just don’t give a sh*t. Also, if the guy was bopping from place to place the bartender (especially if busy) might not have known how much the guy had to drink. Still no excuse… breathalyzers need to become standard equipment on cars…”
bradykp:
i don’t believe you!”
“you mean people that have money get treated differently?!?!?
“i don’t see that ever happening do you? the breathalyzers that is… as for bartenders, having worked in a few restaurants, the people I worked for were always super paranoid about getting into trouble with the PA LCB. They were very vocal to servers and bartenders about watching for intoxicated people.”
hobodad:
“So let me get this straight. A guy is plastered, gets in a car and tears off at about 60 MPH (and at that point NOT being chased by the cops). Do you REALLY think chances are he wouldn’t have crashed? I wouldn’t want to lay odds on that. I don’t have statistics but I can assure you that when drunk drivers get into accidents, they aren’t being chased by the cops 100% of the time. We’ve had several instances in Hoboken where parked cars were hit by drunk drivers and those drivers weren’t being pursued (check the archives on those stories). Kudos for calling it in to the cops.”
hopenfaith:
“People get your facts straight before you start spewing all your crap!”
FMTVENG:
“
“Who knows what would have happened. I’ve witnessed plenty of people driving 80MPH+ with probably a BAC of .020+ on a regular basis and (amazingly, and luckily) none have ever hit anything or anyone. Personally I let every man live for himself and don’t believe in ’snitching’. Unless he was barreling down 14th street bouncing off cars, my cell phone would have never left my pocket…except i might have taken it out to get some pictures of some drunk idiot pounding on his brand new Ferrari
oceanbloo:
“FMTVENG, you cannot be for real…you and people you’ve witnessed make life that much more dangerous for the rest of us. Thanks. I’m sure my family member who was killed by a drunk driver would really appreciate your sense of loyalty to drunk drivers. I’m glad you let “every man live for himself.” That kind of philosophy worked great for my DEAD relative. Disgusting.”

This guy hit a few cars before the police were on the scene. I’m sorry folks I hate drunk drivers. I drink Hell I love to drink! I would never consider driving after drinking.

The course of events apparently started at the Sushi Palace. He was drunk and angry there? Did anyone see what happened here to set him off? I am looking for a witness of sorts that can give a clue as to what went down there and then the incident that took place later on 14th Street.
