Zero cooperation at the Hoboken Parking Utility

“I wanted to share my latest Hoboken Parking Utility frustration… I have three of those scratch-off red temporary visitor hang tags that I bought for when I have guests.

Last time I was at the HPU, they were out of the hang tags for over a month, so as soon as they got new ones in, I bought a bunch of them. These ones have the years 06, 07, and 08 are on them. Since they don’t go past 08, they’re useless after next week, so I went down to see the nice folks at the HPU to exchange them for new ones. Something that I assumed would be a simple procedure, but nope, not at the HPU.

The clerk told me that they’re “only good for 3 years.” But I bought these in 2007, so that means my three years wouldn’t be up until 2010. “Well then yours were good for 1.5 years, and you should have used them by now.” As I realized this conversation wasn’t going anywhere, I asked if there was anyone else I could speak to. She told me no, and that this issue has come up before… My next course of action is to write a letter to John Corea, and hopefully resolve this issue with him. I know it would only be $15 down the drain, but it’s the principal of the thing.

I was wondering if anyone else has attempted to get new passes and if I’m wrong in thinking they should continue to be valid, since the whole point of buying scratch off passes is that you can use them when you need to… Otherwise I guess I can just stand outside the municipal garage on New Years Eve and try scalp them.

Thanks,
Disgruntled Parking Pass Buyer”
Colin,
Bergen County is too good for you. I peg you as someone from sussex or warren county. Can’t take the truth than don’t post. And you should still start to feel bad, # 1 your name is Colin, (sorry !) and #2 who uses GFY ? Again, you don’t like Hoboken than leave, it must be better than wherever you came from if you left and never went back.
Sorry, wrong on both guesses! I have always thought Watchung and Vernon were lovely though.

Nice job on making fun of my name!!!! You are hilarious! Have fun at Wilton House tonight, you will crack everyone up
Hey Colin, Give them a break, at least they are working for a living and I doubt they have a zero dollar co pay. You are probably some Yuppie who is still under his parents insurance while they are paying your rent to even live in Hoboken. You don’t like the people go back to the boonies where you belong !
Ahh yesssss, I was just starting to feel bad until you came along…

I love that you hit the trifecta too!!
1) accusations of non-earned wealth
2) calling someone a yuppie
3) telling me to move out if I don’t like how the town operates (technically you were supposed to tell me to “Move home to Bergen County” but I’ll accept yours as well)

Please GFY
