Lost House Cat downtown
12/29/2008 Update:
Christmas Miracle!
“Sanibel is back! She mysteriously appeared in the apt bldg while i am away. My neighbors are watching her. Miracles do happen or is it coincidence after I filed criminal trespass charges against the owner of the building I live in… Thanks again for all your help, a very happy owner!!”
12/16/2008:
If you have found this cat, please email Hoboken411@gmail.com and I’ll put you in touch with the owner:

Have you seen this cat?
“Please help me. I live at 107 Willow Avenue. On Monday, December 15, 2008 there were workers in my building painting the hallways. I never received any notice that they were going to paint our apartment doors.
My cat, Sanibel, is missing. I was told by eyewitnesses that the buildings front doors were open. I left for work at 7:40 and when I got home at 5:45 my cat was gone. She is a ragdoll, approx. 12 pounds, has beautiful blue eyes and she is a strictly a house cat. I’ve posted missing cat signs throughout my neighborhood and God Willing she will be found. She is my little baby and I am heatbroken and sick that she is not here with me safe and sound. Please post the attached picture on your website and maybe my prayers will be answered and she will be returned to me.
A reward will be given. Please help!”

Thanks again to all of you for your kind words and best wishes. I am still searching for her and have sent flyers to over 12 animal shelters in Hudson, Bergen and Essex Counties.

Good news, glad to hear. Now, find a new apartment. I wouldn’t want to live somewhere with bad blood.
Lady, she can’t change the locks, it’s a rental apartment. You either need permission from the owner of the building, or give them an extra key if you install.

Hooray, she’s back!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I was so worried about your cat and kept checking this blog thread every day, hoping for some good news. I agree with one of the above posters – I think it’s time to get a new apartment as well. Let this be a new beginning and a fresh start!

This is really great news!
What happened with the criminal trespass charge the owner filed?
That has struck my curiosity, glad to know she didn’t take it sitting!

That is great news that you found your cat. But criminal trespassing – I think you should be just counting your blessings that your little one was found. Wouldn’t it just be easier to start anew somewhere else then trying to file criminal trespassing against a landlord and their building, which I’m sure they own. You should just count your blessings that your landlord is even trying to fix up your building – I never even see ours. It sounds like this is more about you and your landlord then you and your cat. Just be glad Sanibel is home safe.

Welcome home Sanibel. I do tend to agree though. Is there more to this story? It sounds like the cat was held hostage? Did you get the poor kitty a clean bill of health from your vet? I hope all goes well for you and your kitty. If it were anyone of my pets (2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 ferrets and fish) I would break the lease and get the hell out of there. Again, not sure if there is more to this story. So glad kitty is ok.

May Sanibel enjoy her safe and warm return home. And I hope that she at least had a wonderful feast while in the wild
