Hobokenpix: Developer nightmares

[Continuing the Hoboken411 “Photo of the Day” series…]

Hoboken Photo of the Day – 12/10/2008

I took this picture last year, but it still makes me laugh.

Can you imagine the conversations that took place before those outside buildings were built? I’m sure the developers wanted to buy both Domino’s and the teeny building next to it out, so they could build a nicer full-length structure. But either they offered too little, and the owners thought they could “ride” the market all the way to the sky! But now, I can bet they wished they took the money then! Not sure sure about Domino’s, though. They probably rake in so much – it’d never be worth it to switch! (that is, of course, if another one opens up at that Commerce Center uptown!)

PS – if you have images collecting dust on your camera or hard drive – send them in for eventual inclusion on Hoboken411! Please state how you’d like to be credited in your email, and a description – if desired!!

Why not include a bird bath, a rabbit cage, a dog house, and complete it with some chicken. Don’t forget the flamingos!

I think the house on 10th and Jefferson was one of several built for disabled war vets. That is old time Hoboken. It will be gone soon.

My bad on the location. I wish that house will stay there as long as it can. If I’m not mistaken (again), I think I have seen them hanging their laundry outside on the yard. Some people preaching progress might have a problem with these old fashion environmentally friendly techniques.

only a matter of time. that house is actually on 10th and jeff. it is one of a handful of properties i see around town that make me stop and say “hey, how is this little guy still around?”.[/quote]

Knock it down! Why stand in the way of progress.
