Sinatra Drive Hit & Run – any info?

12/8/2008:

A Hoboken411 reader went to his car yesterday – to find it was damaged! He’s a bit disgruntled with the Hoboken Police…

Did you see the hit & run?

“I was the victim of a hit and run over the weekend. My car was sideswiped and I don’t get the feeling that the police are too interested in making any attempt to investigate.

I walked to my car yesterday afternoon (12/7) to find that my car had been sideswiped – the side was dinged pretty badly and the mirror destroyed. There were other car parts around that were not mine, leading me to believe that other cars may have been hit as well. I was parked on Sinatra Drive next to the water @ 8th or 9th (hard to tell exactly). It could have been anytime from Wed – Sun, although I would guess it happened Saturday night. Anyone else have their car hit or have any other information about an incident in that area? I filed a police report, but don’t feel like there was much interest in any sort of investigation.”

I’ve been paying for a spot too, that’s where mine got hit. Luckily, it’s an assigned spot so I knew who hit it.

My car was hit while legally parked and unoccupied on clinton between 10th & 11th ON THE DAY I MOVED TO HOBOKEN in July. I couldn’t move my car it was so badly hit (once the driver hit me, they kept driving and ripped of the metal on the front driver’s side door). I called the police and they said I needed to come to the station (even after telling them I couldnt drive my car) but I took pictures. When I showed the pics to the cops they were like “why didn’t you call us to come down there?” – AHHH… And still working out insurance payment and such. I’ve been paying $200 for a parking spot per month since Sept and best money I spent – no more worries!

It was just my opinion, thats all. If thats the way it went down then fine. Who am I to tell you it didnt. We all have run into a jerk or so somewhere, not necessarily at the PD. Maybe the clerk at a counter or the bagger at the grocery store, they are everywhere.
The only thing i dont like having is someone give my personal information to a stranger for contact purposes. That person might know you but the officer doesnt know that. To them they are still a stranger. I dont think it has anything to do with the type of car you have but again, if you think so, fine, your thoughts. Hopefully you have a better experience next time or better yet no experience is even better 🙂
I find it hard to believe that the officer straight out said that they couldnt find you. I think you are embellishing a bit and fine since you were upset because of the car. . . I have had good experiences here in Hoboken with situations like that and understand that sometimes there is so much they can do and its easy for us to blame them for not doing what we feel is enough for “ME”.
What you think, and what the actuality of the situation was, are completely different. Given my other [limited] interactions with the HPD, I was surprised by the way they treated this. I’m telling you, twice when I went in for my report the guy behind the desk was incredibly rude, to the point where I wondered if he thought he knew me from somewhere. It was a colossal pain in the ass, and the accident report was never filed/found — yet the report behind and in front of mine was readily available.

I honestly believe it’s because of the make/model of the car.
