Hoboken Photos of the Day - 11/20/2008
Last week I was strolling by Lana Lounge downtown - and was astonished by the incredible number of empty garbage pails on the ground. I counted at least 30 of them (typically used for empty beer bottles, etc.)
Now I understand the recycling usually happens very early in the morning - which is fine - but these cans were still cluttering the sidewalk at past 4:00pm! What a nuisance! Imagine trying to park there - opening the car door, etc? Another thing is - that many businesses that leave their smelly trash on the sidewalks - like this one, or McDonald’s etc - seem to have permanently stained our walkways - and often have a wretched stench associated with it.
PS - if you have images collecting dust on your camera or hard drive - send them in for eventual inclusion on Hoboken411! Please state how you’d like to be credited in your email, and a description - if desired!!

Should not there be some enforcement of the sidewalk conditions? As far as I know, Judy Tripodi has not rite-sized
the employees yet

Ew, permanent stenches!
Those pails always turn over at the slightest hint of a breeze, it seems. I always pick them up, though– dunno why.

That block has been disgusting and repulsive with the garbage cans all over the sidewalk for at least 20 years, no matter how many times they change the name and decor of the dive bar.

I got a violation in the mail from the city because I had 1 garbage can left too close to the curb. Yet businesses seems to have no problem having dozens out.
