Readerpix: Hoboken Skate Park

11/7/2008:

Hoboken411 reader Josh sent in these incredible shots of kids skating and biking on the ramps at the Hoboken Skate Park.

Hoboken411 reader photos of the day – 11/7/2008

Josh added: “I captured these shots from the skate park a few weeks back. The kids there were kind enough to let me take a few shots of them doing their thing. The most fearless of the group were the bikers, whose half pipe aerobatics made for some really nice shots. All photos were shot with a Nikon D40 (only $499 at Amazon!) and 18-200mm VR lens. Captured in RAW and processed in Lightroom 2.0.”

I used to have an 8.5′ half pipe in me back yard. ‘Twas a bit of fun, it was, until poor little Danny Hanna from around the way broke his face wide open on the flat. Sadly, when he yelled “fakie”, the tandem guy didn’t hear, and the resulting collision was epic.

So, the half pipe was dismantled and combined with another half pipe in the yard of someone who’s parents were less lawsuit-averse.

And I never did pull off that 720 McTwist. 😥

I used to skate a bit in highschool and every trick i thought was going to be easy was a lot harder to actually complete. I am always amazed by those guys who nail them. And I never actually got to the difficult tricks. I ended up turning in my skateboard for a Lacrosse stick. 🙂
