Mortgages – what should I do?

“I’m starting to look into getting pre-approved for a mortgage, and thought your community might be a good resource to tap. My brother-in-law just got approved for a great loan in the Philly area, and I’m wondering, who do I need to talk to to see what my best options are? Can someone recommend a good mortgage broker in the area? Should I go directly to the bank? Should I use bankrate.com? I’m curious, what to do as a first time buyer out here.”

Frank DeSantis from NJ Lenders has done 3 deals for me (2 mortgages and a re-fi) as well as several of my friends’ loans. He is extremely bright and experienced. I would highly recommend. although a broker I have never been ripped off – in fact just the opposite. I feel that I have gotten the best deals (trust me I compared). frank@njlenders.com

I used Superior Mortgage. They have an office in Hoboken. I spoke to the branch manager, Baret Kechian…he works out of the Rutherford branch too. He is a good guy, and can get things done. My lawyer who did my closing even said he never dealt with a mortgage company that had their act together that much.

I had good experiences with Haven Savings on my first purchase and with Jennifer Curty of Wells Fargo more recently.

I have two Italian friends who are willing to give you a loan, but you need to make sure you make your payments.

Don’t you swim in a Speedo at the Secaucus pool?
DO NOT GO TO LENDINGTREE!!

Unless of course you want your credit history to be accessed several dozen times by the random companies under their name.

It actually lowers your credit score when you have so many people checking it.
I co-sign, AND you will get connected to quicken loans, the fraud artists of loans. They are pushy, condesending, and downright rude if you tell them “I decided to go with someone else”. Oh yea, and 1 point higher than market rate. 😯
