Sewage near 1000 Jefferson…

10/20/2008:

One Hoboken411 reader is miffed about the sewage near the Shoprite

Spillage ain’t cool!!

“Thanks for the great site!

Any thoughts about the constant sewage spilling from an exposed pipe at 1000 Jefferson? As in toilet paper and all, lying all over the sidewalk. Have any others mentioned this, or is there some pending lawsuit I don’t know about? I thought it was a one time thing from the heavy rains, but its always like that, even when its dry! There is old police tape on the ground from when they tried to block the area once before, but I don’t think they have done anything about it recently. It is awful, and I have no idea how to complain or who to complain to.

The pipe is just across from the grocery store near Madison and 9th on the back side of 1000 Jefferson.”
This is nasty, but has anyone thought that maybe for the last 50-60 years all that was down there were a few home, small garages , the HHS field and factories. Now there are about 500 -1000 butts flushing the toilet. I’m wondering is Civil work done before, during or after a development goes up.. Or do we wait till the shit backs up?? and then say ” hey we need new pipes”
i love the way you worded this.

How long ago did this person write in to 411? They ripped the street up a few weeks back to repair pipes. Looks like a brand new storm drain on that corner too.
