Any good doctors in Hoboken?

11/4/2010 Update:

Which doctors are honest & trustworthy in Hoboken?

An age-old question since I’ve lived in Hoboken has been about finding a reputable doctor or dentist in town. And yet to this day – I still hear “horror stories” from residents regularly. From up-selling drugs or treatment, to mis-diagnosis – you gotta be careful out there! Updating this post from a couple years ago – as two locals recently emailed and are looking for advice.

General Practitioner?

“I have been living in Hoboken for 2 years now and have had some real struggles trying to find a good GP. I won’t name any names but I visited a doctor on Washington street to get a basic physical and he tried to push pills on me. I walked out of there disgusted and vowed never to return again!

Then I visited a doctor around mid town Hoboken for a basic check up again and have never been more grossed out by the filth of the waiting room.

I finally found Dr. Messihi uptown and was pleased with him; however, my insurance has recently changed and they no longer accept my new provider.

Can you please suggest a GP in Hoboken that has a clean office and doesn’t push pills onto it’s patients?”

Fertility Doctor?

“My husband and I are about to begin the process of consulting treatment for infertility. I have done some initial research on the best physicians/clinics in NJ but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations in the Northern NJ/NYC area. Comments on University Reproductive Associates in Hoboken are especially welcome.”

Primary care doctor recommendations?

10/14/2008:

A couple months ago, a Hoboken411 reader asked about good dentist recommendations.

She’s back again, and is looking for a reliable Primary Care Physician in town (and perhaps internal medicine).

Say “Uhhhhh: Any good doctors in Hoboken?”

“The 411 readers were very helpful with picking a dentist that I was wondering if they had a good recommendation for a Medical Doctor in Hoboken? This way I wouldn’t have to travel home to go.”

So what say you, Hoboken residents?

Any recommendations for a good cardiologist and pulmonologist in the Hoboken area? A down to earth cool one would be preferred!

I use both Dr.Messihi and Dr.Tracey. I like them both. I went to Dr.Pollack as well. I’m not sure of my thoughts on Dr.Pollack.

I recently went to a doctor in Hoboken for a check-up. I later got a $500 bill (insurance only covered up to $250). Is that a standard rate for a 15-minute physical?

If your sick, I know a few people who have used PromptMD and said nothing but good things. It might not be covered by insurance but it’s good to know that there is some place to go if urgent care is needed. I will be giving Dr. Tracey a try for physical before the end of the year, will let you think what I think! Dr. Messihi is booked up till February, must be real good! I go to Dr. Pollack as well. The first girl I ever kissed had the last name Pollack. They have no relation I am sure.
