Mugging in Hoboken!

“Hoboken 411! Please report this to everyone. My girlfriend’s roommate’s boyfriend (6’2” built white male) was walking home Monday night after the Mets game around 1:30am from the PATH when he was jumped by four black men, punched directly in the face and had his wallet stolen.

He was staying with my gf’s roommate on 2nd and Grand and as I understand, he was walking down 2nd when he got jumped. This scared the sh*t out of all of our friends, seeing how we all live right in the downtown area. I have never felt so unsafe before. We all feel violated.

He called the cops immediately after and they dropped him off at my gf’s apartment on 2nd and Grand. Did you hear this on the police scanner that night? (411: nope, missed it.) Is this the same group of thugs that mugged the couple by 4th/5th a few months ago? This is ridiculous! We are all going to start carrying pepper spray and air horns now.

Oh and by the way, before they emerged and jumped him, they caught his attention by yelling “Hey Whitey!” Charming.”
Street-smarts necessary, always.

House keys: fanned between your fingers, while walking home. For easy access (front door key by your index finger), when you arrive.

And in case you need them for defense.
Sad but true.

Especially so, for women walking home late at night, alone.
Can you, not use commas, whenever your mind takes a vacation in the middle, of a sentence? Or, are you as big a moron, as your posts, frequently indicate?

Housekeys for defense? Please tell me that you really don’t believe that will work. You’re better off running, head butting or kneeing a guy in the groin. Housekeys puts you in a vulnerable position as you extend your arm to punch them, they can EASILY grab your arm as you extend it, and then you’re screwed.

Worried about being attacked? Take a self defense course.

Nice aerial view of my condo for a second I thought there was another mugging on my street, good to know there are only drunk drivers hitting cars and buildings recently. 😈
on the street where it gets a lot darker, 4 thugs were walking our way on our side, so i crossed the street. at first i was thinking it was kinda stupid, but then i saw them stop, and turn around, not long after we passed them.

we accelerated our speed a bit and cut up to 1st street with more pedestrian traffic and better lighting, and more businesses.

nothing happened, but i was pretty sure if i stayed on that side of the street something would have.

newark street is just entirely too dark and deserted at that time of night.
I don’t feel foolish when I do that. I’ve encountered “thugs” who although they did not rob or mug me, snuck up behind me and yelled to try to scare me and then laughed. They’re lucky I didn’t have a knife on me.
