SW6 Fall Fest – Oct. 25th

10/27/2008 Update:

After the partial power outage in Hoboken on Saturday, I headed over to the GoldHawk to support the Southwest Parks Coalition:

Fundraiser a success!

Sara Stojkovic from HSPC said:

“Neither rain, wind, nor a major power outage deterred supporters for the FallFest SW6 fundraiser. Saturday night The Goldhawk was a victim to the outage which delayed Hoboken Southwest Parks Coalition’s event, but when the the power surged back on at 9 PM, the determined party goers ventured out into the foul weather to attend. It was a fun time with plenty of libations, excellent food, and dancing until the wee hours of the morning.

HSPC wants to thank everyone who purchased a ticket and gave additional donations in support of HSPC’s efforts and the SW6 park, and everyone who made their soggy, windy way to the party, and the Goldhawk staff who flew into action to get the party going and for extending the hours.

It was a great success!”

Help make a southwest park a reality

Tickets are still available for the Hoboken Southwest Parks Coalition FallFest for SW6. The party starts this Saturday night at The Goldhawk (10th & Park) with a full Indian buffet, beer and wine included in the price of admission. In addition to great food and drink you’ll be doing your part to cover growing expenses related to the effort to make the SW6 Park happen.

What’s at stake?

Any shot at a Southwest Hoboken Park!

If not for HSPC, the Roberts redevelopment plan for rows of high-rise condo buildings in southwest Hoboken would be under construction today. Contributions to HSPC funded the fight against that plan, and helped develop the SW6 action plan for a greener, greater Hoboken. This effort continues as HSPC and its attorneys work with the City Council and Planning Board to make SW6 a reality.

Working without support from the Roberts Administration, HSPC has been forced to hire its own attorneys to guide this effort through the legislative process. This costs money. Lots of it. What better way to raise funds then with friends, beer and curry this weekend at the Goldhawk?

Buy your tickets today at www.HobokenSPC.org to support community efforts to make the SW6 Park a reality. Even if you can’t make it, buy some tickets for the cause!

lets face it….those who went did so for the beer and the party….lets see how many actually go to the park and utilize it on a blustry cold January day or a steamy hot August afternoon…..but getting the park done is agreat in any event

I guess all the naysayers want the traffic mess that happens in that area between Observer, Paterson Plank, Monroe and Harrison to continue. All those fumes and noise do wonders for quality of life and property values.

One of my favorite features of the park proposal is the traffic plan. Using some of the ideas in the Master Plan (remenber that?) it redesigns the whole road map with new roads and flow changes in the existing streets to keep Jersey City traffic in Jersey City and improve traffic flow in the whole area.
