Just nine months into his 113th year, the world’s oldest man, Tomoji Tanabe passed away.

Would Tomoji Tanabe survive in Hoboken NJ?

Had to put this up.

I was reading about the worlds oldest manTomoji Tanabe – who recently celebrated his 113th birthday!

Tanabe, recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest living male last year, eats mostly vegetables and believes the key to longevity is not drinking alcohol.

“His favorite food is fried shrimp, but we’ve heard that he’s cut back on oily food,” said an official at his hometown of Miyakonojo, about 900 km (560 miles) southwest of Tokyo.

With all the bars and greasy food in Hoboken – Tomoji wouldn’t make it a day past 60 here!

If the secret to long life is the absense of alcohol, isn’t it a good thing those thugs at Lounge 11 are drunk all the time…the sooner they’ll be dead?

The eagle said to the raven-bird, “How is it that you live so much longer than me?” The raven replied, “It is what I eat.” So the eagle flew with the raven and spotted a dead animal. They both approached it and the eagle, after a single peck, flapped a wing and said, “You can eat your carrion and live for three hundred years, but I will have my fresh blood and see what tomorrow brings,” and flew away.

Roughly paraphrased from Pushkin. Caw!

Obviously we all want to have long, productive happy lives. By my calculations, though, I can’t afford to live that long! Maybe it’s better to live to say 85 and enjoy a few vices now and then? 😉
