Liberty Realty

Liberty Realty upgrading in Hoboken

Liberty Realty is already the largest Realtor in Hoboken, with three locations in town (along with one in Jersey City). But they’re not one to rest on their laurels.

With “spiffy” new realty offices in Town (from the likes of Keller Williams, Halstead Property, Coldwell Banker, and a new one coming from RE/Max), the folks at Liberty are “keeping up with the (realty) Joneses” by upgrading their office here at 525 Washington Street. Apparently it will be a “bold, new look” whatever that means (or how that will change the services they offer).

But, boy, being a “broker of record” sure has its perks!

Liberty Realty keeps expanding in Hoboken, NJ

June 2012 Update:

Boy, if one Real Estate company in Hoboken is “bucking the economic trends,” that would be Liberty Realty.

They now have three offices in town – with their main “corporate” center expanding greatly, apparently soon taking up the entire ground floor of Marineview Plaza.

Those signs have been upon for many months if not years. Must be stuck in permit hell.

Yay now I know where I can go in order to be spoken to condescendingly about why a 2 bedroom should run well over a half a million…

Liberty Realty is by far the most incompetent property manager in Hudson County. They rarely, if ever, respond to complaints. They offer poor excuses as to why things aren’t fixed, you have to argue with them to make necessary repairs, and the people they hire to do jobs are mildly retarded at best. I would encourage anyone who is considering hiring them as a broker or property manager to seriously give it a second thought.

Oh no … no one will beat APPLIED HOUSING in its incompetence. Not only do they harbor drug dealers, they don’t do anything about it. They allow ex-convicts to live in those buildings and these people continue their drug dealing. The saddest part is the fact that most tenants know about it and Applied is not doing anything to resolve the issue.

Friends have been trying to get someone evicted because of their drug dealing but APPLIED is idly sitting by doing nothing. All these while a day care center is right around the corner.

DO NOT RENT FROM APPLIED. They advertise themselves really well but they are AWFUL. STAY AWAY FROM THEIR BUILDINGS. YOU’LL RECOGNIZE THEM WHEN YOU SEE THESE BLUE AND WHITE BANNERS THAT SAY “RENT HERE”.

I find their web site mildly annoying as you cannot tell what is for sale and what is not – I have the feeling that it is not updated too often. I do have to say that any broker that I have met from Liberty has been extremely professional and polite. Just my 2 cents

They handled property management when I lived in my former apartment (moved out in Dec 2006). The broker who showed my apartment when we originally moved in was the person that we dealt with for any kind of maintenance issues. Maybe thats the incorrect definition of property management. She rarely answered the phone and took days to return messages. I dealt with Liberty Realty for locating the apartment, paying the rent, and dealing with day to day maintenance issues, and that experience was completely awful. We also had somewhat extensive direct dealings with Joseph Covello, who is the “Broker of Record” according to the website, and that experience was equally bad. Maybe its just me, but exposed wiring, broken windows that don’t get replaced, broken refrigerator that takes 2 weeks to replace, a broken front door, and various other issues that never got solved, and just a general lack of respect for the people (tenants) is bad business in my eyes. I’ve had 2 other “brokers” in Hoboken, and both were significantly better than Liberty, but thats just my opinion.

Please tell me you will not have two locations? I mean, are you giving up the location on Washington Street so at least one more space could possibly be occupied by something the general public will deem intersting?

Liberty Realty is the agency my fiancee and I choose to help us purchase a condo back in November. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Karen Algier was my agent and she was great. She was very patient and completely helpful during the process and she continues to help us to this day. My fiancee and I worked with Karen and Liberty for about 3 months trying to find the right place. Never once did we feel uncomfortable or rushed. Karen patiently found places for us and brought us to see them. In the end we were very happy with our decision to use Liberty Realty and Karen Algier.

My roommate and I had a terrible experience with Liberty and will never try to use Liberty again for renting. We were looking for an apt and found their listings on their site and also on craigslist. They posted many of the same ones each day and we were quite interested in several of them. We emailed several of the listing agents from the craigslist postings for more information, as well as called and left some messages. Of the like 8 or so agents we emailed/called we only ever heard back from one agent. We set up an appointment to see some places with that agent, and he never showed up. We called his cell several times as well as calling the office. We found out from another Realtor who was familiar with some of the rentals which Liberty had posted that many of the ones we were looking at were already rented, but yet Liberty continued posting them EVERYDAY on craigslist and their site. They minimally could have called us to let us know that they were rented as we were willing to (and asked to) also see anything they had similar. This is some of the worst customer service that I have ever seen. If you like any of their places I would suggest finding a different realtor who is willing to assist you with seeing anything from Liberty (co-brokering).

I dont know how this firm is organized, however the one on 5th and Washington is the most pathetic excuse for a realty office I have encountered, I cannot believe they continue to operate. They are an irresponsible and deceitful group of people.

When I rented, I “found” them in my apartment on 3 occasions. Their lack of respect and total disregard for our privacy/safety caused my wife and I to confront them in their office. This resulted in them not knowing who had our keys “at the moment or where they even were! We were told that we have nothing to worry about as they are “professionals”. Not to be disrespectful to the realty community (and I know this is going to be disrespectful) but Im sorry, just because you take a week long class, then pass a test (in which the answers are provided) does not make you a professional who should be resonsible for parading god knows who in and out of a home in an effort to screw renters out of an exhorbitant amount of $ in a “Brokers fee”. Also, they can fuck off for not enforcing the law and allowing landlords to continue the ILLEGAL practice of requiring a pet deposit.

LIBERTY BLOWS AND I WISH NOTHING BUT THE WORST FOR THEM.
