9/6/2008:
As I get flooding photos in, I’ll add them to this map for easy reference.
Hoboken map of flooding photos
Tips for those unfamiliar with interactive maps like this:
- See the (+) and (-) buttons on the upper left? Use the (+) button to zoom in for better detail.
- You can move the map around by just “Clicking and Dragging” it.
- Single-Clicking on one of the push-pins expands the image.
- Keep in mind this is just a cumulative display of all the images that come into Hoboken411. Each set of pictures will eventually have it’s own entry you can see them full size.
Stay dry everyone, seems like the worst may still be on the way!

BMW stuck on Madison/9th. Towtruck refuses to come out in the weather. Are you kidding me??

Park near Lincoln Tunnel/495 was closed to traffic a while ago.

But, the same tow truck company just agreed to pick up a private tow. Odd how they can’t make it out to honor the city contract but, they can do it for a private tow?!

Newark and Park under water again. . .
I heard the same thing about the tow truck.

Monroe/Jackson and 1st at the Sky Club totally flooded out again. Don’t have pics but water is up over car tires in some places.

I’m totally flooded in . . . can someone send Jenn Sterger and those incredible flotation devices to help a brother out?

Newark and Garden: Treacherous!
Oh, and funny reference to the “flotation” devices, Irish!

Thanks 411, I need a diversion in between cooking my dinner and watching college football. Honestly though, I read 411 for the articles.

If you’re getting tired of this, tell the North Hudson Sewerage Authority to get off their rears and do something about it. Their email is info@nhudsonsa.com. Or print out your photos & send them snail mail, 1600 N Adams (isn’t that in the flood zone?).
Address your comments to the executive director, Fred Pocci, who promises to install some specially designed pumps to solve (more likely just reduce) the flooding, maybe by 2011, depending on funding. Until then, as Hoboken411 advises, park on higher ground & stock up on bottled water.
The website is nhudsonsa.com. Worth a visit…they deserve some credit for public disclosure of their plans, if not for urgency. Guess who’s on the NHSA board? Frank Raia, whose ShopRite is now surrounded by a moat.

Well, so much for the “it only floods at high tide” theory.

Grand Street south of 3rd, flooded.

Why isn’t Harrison Street between first and second not marked? It floods here if someone spits on the sidewalk.
Someone drove the wrong way and hydro - locked their car. Why would you drive through this?

It was designated as a “flood area” on the map in this post:

This map is just for photos that I took or were submitted by Hoboken411 readers.
If I didn’t nearly snap my spine when I fell head-first into a pool of sewage I would have been down there.
I felt it was better for me to “recover” here at home, dry off and lick my wounds, than go back out just to get the story.

Ick. I’d pour alcohol or peroxide all over sewage wounds instead of licking them.

yuck. staying with a friend by chance in jc heights, fun watching people [try to] drive through the intersection of first/second and harrison right by skyclub - its deep!

Argh… just took my puppies swimming on Newark & Willow. Pretty sure they’re going to get a bath! yuck!

Somehow I made it past the Sky Club pool tonight. Need the car desperately tomorrow and hope no damage was done. If not I’m billing my cab fare to whoever developed the Sky Club
