Flooding photo contest

September
9/5/2008:
If what forecasters are saying comes true, then Hoboken has a fairly decent chance to become flooded on Saturday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the entire area:
“HEAVY RAIN ASSOCIATED WITH THIS TROPICAL STORM WILL SPREAD WELL AHEAD OF THE MAIN LOW LATE TONIGHT INTO SATURDAY NIGHT… WITH THE HEAVIEST RAIN EXPECTED SATURDAY AFTERNOON INTO SATURDAY NIGHT. TROPICAL STORM HANNA IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE ANYWHERE BETWEEN 3 TO 6 INCHES OF RAIN WITH SOME POSSIBLE HIGHER AMOUNTS ACROSS THE WATCH AREA. THESE RAINFALL TOTALS HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE FLOODING ACROSS HIGHLY URBANIZED AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS AND CAUSE SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS TO FLOW OUT OF THEIR BANKS.”

Dinner and a Massage
If Hoboken does end up under water, send your photos, video clips, or anything related to the flooding and Tropical Storm Hanna, and I’ll post on 411.
I’ll pick my favorite submission, and the winner will receive a free massage at Spa H, and a gift certificate for Helmers’ Restaurant.
Rules:
- You should be a registered Hoboken411 reader (please supply username when entering)
- You can Photoshop or edit the photo, but the picture must be of any actual flooding that happens on Saturday
PS, if Hoboken does NOT flood, then well, I look like an idiot for hyping it up…

Yea…so a hot chick won because she posed in a picture (and those aren’t skivvies by the way). Talk about not rewarding effort or creativity.

Jeez… I can’t make everyone happy.
- Never said it was going to be judged on creativity, photography skills, or any specific criteria
- I tried the use voting thing in the past, but people abused it
- I had a panel of judges (for the dogs), but it was a gigantic pain in the ass
The winner was the only one willing to be in the picture, and that was what tipped the scales.
Hey, I said all the entries were nice.
Plus, next contest will have bigger prizes.

I’m sorry, was this a photo contest or a wet t-shirt contest?

Not rewarding effort?! It takes a lot of effort to look hot. You worked on your photography skills while she was running from here to Edgewater and back every day. Creativity? While she was over there, she picked out clothes to show off her effort. You wanna prize? I got some green grapes in the fridge for ya, you sourpuss.

i don’t know…the picture is a little fuzzy but it seems to me that she maybe needs to do a bit more running no? and the jury is also out of the hotness. focus, camera, focus.

She’s got more balls than the rest of us - putting her pic on here for public consumption and ridicule. I say “Go Swamp Girl!”

I think the “swamp girl” is cute. For the record I grew up on “The Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge,” so I may be biased.

Out by Madison or farther over? I know those trails, paths and boardwalks like the back of my hand.

my grandparents lived on Southern Blvd in Chatham and their property backed up to the Great Swamp! Spent a ton of time exploring there.

In the Long Hill Township section. I spent my summers and winters in the woods exploring and doing a little fishing and the occassional hunt (when permitted by the refuge). My first job was with the Youth Conservation Corps (sounds so Maoist, no?) fixing the blinds and the boardwalks while maintaining the trails. We made $3.25 an hour. Minimum wage in 1988. It was a nice place to grow up.

Where are these pics?

Could be anywhere…at any time…who knows
