Brownstone Realty

Brownstone Realty Moves to 50 Harrison Street

The high rents – and the fact that most people use the internet for Real Estate – caused Brownstone Realty to move to the office at the Hoboken Business Center in the exact opposite corner of Hoboken (50 Harrison Street).

12/7/2010 Update:

Another storefront for rent: Brownstone Realty

Not sure what the deal is with Brownstone Realty (1200 Washington St.) – but seems like this whole corner is now for rent (Jem’s Chocolate too).

The Brownstone Realty website is down, and the spot is also filled with random clutter.

I too have previously utilized the services of Skip Murphy and I can vouch for his apartment finding abilities. He found us a very good apartment for rent in Hoboken in a short amount of time. Unfortunately, once he found the apartment for us and the fee check was delivered, the music stopped! His accesibility going forward was weak at best and his inability to actually get me a copy of the signed lease reminded me of an experience at the DMV. More accountability needs to be held for realtors these days. It’s about time someone spoke up.

walking down my street i actually saw him grab a business card from ANOTHER property info box posted by ANOTHER realty company, cross out the persons name and scratch his name and telephone number in there. he mumbled somthing like “oh,it’s our listing” and handed it to the prospective customer.

i expect cheese from realtors in this town, but this was actually quite stinky cheese.

I’ve dealt with Brownstone. I like Skip. He is a go-getter. He is very ambitious. I thought the woman who worked with him was another agent. I read the above post. She is his assistant. He works the office alone. A few years ago I was toying with buying a place. I spoke with Skip. In a 24hr.period. He came up with about 3-4 properties. That fit my price range. It was years ago. I didn’t follow-up. I definately should have. Fast Forward to the present. I needed a tenant for April 1st occupancy. I handed Skip the keys to my condo. Other realtors were having issues renting it. It’s tiny. It wasn’t showing well due to my prior tenant. A day or so after handing Skip the keys. He showed it. He showed someone my studio and another studio. The only reason he didn’t rent my unit was because. One studio was including utilities. I was not. The person chose the unit with the utilities included.

I completely agree! There is dust, dirt and paper everywhere! A cat that scared the heck out of me when it jumped on me! Love cats – but what about those who don’t or who are allergic? It makes for a terrible first impression. I left thinking if this is the level of pride they take in their office, the bar is set way too low. Not where I want to do business!

I am not the type of person to leave a bad review but I also had a bad experience with them. They were very shady/creepy to say the least and showed us a bunch of apartments in the “botique district.” They also tried to pull of a dirty trick of taking us to a 5th floor walkup..stopping at the 3rd floor and putting the key in the wrong door..oh oops, just 2 more flights up. (obviously to make it not seem like so many flights)In my opinion – BEWARE!
