Something awry on Sintra Drive

8/27/2008 Update:
Suspicious brown package found Sinatra Drive between 5th & 6th.
Sheesh, people can’t even ship stuff UPS anymore….
8/27/2008:
Since I can’t be everywhere at once, I’ll get this story started about what I’ve been hearing on the Live Hoboken Police and Fire Scanner.

Something going on at Stevens/Sinatra Drive
At the current time, Sinatra Drive is closed between 4th and 11th Streets. It sounds as if there’s some kind of problem near the Steven Campus (at that parking garage indicated in the picture above).
Emergency crews are near “grade level” of the complex, and they’ve evacuated nearby buildings.
I can’t determine at this time whether it’s a collapse of some kind, a power-related issue (I heard PSE&G mentioned on the radio), or anything else.
I will be in and out of the office this afternoon, so anyone listening in, or in the vicinity please feel free to add comments to keep this situation up to date.

One reader mentioned that it’s a “bomb scare”…
Brown wrapped package found in car along sinatra drive between 5th & 6th..

Brown wrapped package found in a car? Does that mean I can’t leave a package in my car without them closing down streets? How does one avoid this? Do you write on the outside of the package “this is not a bomb?” Would that work? If so wouldn’t every mad bomber do it? Weird.

Yeah seriously…what if its a gift? I guess you’re screwed than!
If you order anything via UPS, you had better open that sucker up ight away or hide it in your trunk before half the city shuts down.

Maybe leaving a brown UPS package in your car will deter people from breaking into it.

Whatever it was, the walkway is opened back up already.

Was it really a brown package in a car? How many times have I driven with a brown box in my car because I was bringing it somewhere? Wow…how the people have gone mad and how the pendulum has swung so far in the wrong direction.

The brown bag contained Michael Lenz’s lunch. Upon returning it to the rightful owner, Lenz ingested the all contents contained within, wipe his mouth with the brown-paper bag, then ate that as well.

What a great aerial shot of the stevens campus. Developers must salivate when they see that real estate. I am suprised quimby hasnt tried to kick the campus out of town so he could put ugly generic box shaped condos there.

That’s where the farting comes in….he’s taking it down one building at a time!
Chop!Chop!
P.S. That was actually Lenz’s dinner delivered from Jenny Craig

It was reported as a suspicious package and the threat is apparently over.

Quimby can’t kick stevens out, not without getting city hall kicked out

My compliments on H411’s vocabulary. I can’t remember the last time I saw “awry” outside of a crossword puzzle.
