Hoboken has a new street

8/25/2008:

Uptown residents were treated to a surprise (partial) opening of Sinatra Drive between 11th and 12th Streets a few days ago.

The waterfront road runs in front of the Maxwell Place project, and will eventually have additional park space for all to enjoy.
Sinatra Dr. should be closed or become one-way between the “beach” division and Hudson St. Yes, the whole thing was changed recently, and it doesn’t work. The crosswalks are so infrequent that it invites jay-walking, and it’s a blind turn coming up from Sinatra.
Don’t want to beat a dead horse, but the Stevens plan for the site would have rerouted Sinatra along the water, and would have reconnected Elsyian Park and what was supposed to be the Baseball diamond, that is instead a grass covered parking garage.

not really. you can only turn right onto sinatra, so while you might bypass the hudson light at 12th, you’ll still get caught in the 11th st light even after the baricade is removed.

Certainly makes walking over the park a lot easier.

It will be nice when they get rid of the barrier and allow people to bypass the light.
