Moving sign guys strike again!

hoboken-moving-sign-guys-are-like-roaches.jpg8/19/2008:

Have you ever heard the phrase: “If there was a nuclear war, the only thing that would survive would be cockroaches”?

Well, add another “species” to the list: MOVING SIGN GUYS!

Hoboken411 reader “hobojoe” provides this week’s update on the serial litterers:

They’re everywhere!

“Last weekend we were treated to an entire weekend free of signs on every pole.

This weekend they made up for it and gave us a double-whammy.

First on Saturday we got the usual $19 signs (now they say in big letters ‘No Surprises’ – as in, “hey, you’re dumb enough to call an out-of-state cell phone number illegally taped to a telephone pole, you should’ve KNOWN we was gonna steal your stuff”)

Then this past Sunday, we had this upstanding fellow taping $20 moving signs all over our city. Here he is around 7pm on 7th and Park, then later at 9th and Park. Again, I really need to practice taking pictures with my cell phone, but you get the picture.

PHOTO GALLERY (HOLD MOUSE OVER IMAGE TO NAVIGATE – 4 PHOTOS IN THIS SET)

He even ripped the corner tag off of every other sign he hung up – so that it looked like there was a lot of interest in the crooked scam he was advertising for. [411 note: Ha!]

I really wish there was some way our local officials could keep on top of these guys. If they really do pick these guys up once in a while, it’s obvious the penalties aren’t harsh enough.

I volunteer to personally visit every telephone and telegraph pole in town and take these signs down – but only if the City can demonstrate they’re serious about cracking down on these guys first.”

I talked to a few friends & apparently, thats the oldest delivery trick in the book.
You know what, this sucks and not many people would have thought to read the delivery order. So it was damn nice of you to help the rest of us!!!
This just proves people SUCK.
Also, when you’re buying/setting up the delivery be really explicit about it being a walkup. Read it in the store. I can’t remember for what or from where but I was refused delivery, but at least I hadn’t left the store yet.

Cort delivery service (furniture, not sure if they do appliance) is usually really good, because as I was told (not sure if true) they get fired on the first complaint.
