Strong storms possible Sunday
In case you were blissfully lulled by our gorgeous weather so far this weekend, here’s a friendly announcement that we might be in store for a bout of stormy conditions Sunday or Sunday night. Hoboken was quite lucky and escaped any trademark flooding from some recent summer storms.
Forecasters are calling for a 75% chance of a strong thunderstorm in the afternoon, which can bring hail and damaging winds.
Showers and thunderstorms spurred on by low pressure over the eastern Great Lakes and cool flow out of northern Ontario will erupt over the East Sunday into Sunday night. From central New York and southwestern New England south to the Delmarva, a few strong storms will break out in the afternoon and evening. These will threaten severe local wind and hail as well as the usual torrential bursts of rain.
Hopefully, these “damaging” storms will miss Hoboken again!
