Pregones Theater Summer Stage 2008
MIGRANTS! Cantata a los Emigrantes
Pregones Theater returns to Hoboken for the only New Jersey performance of its 10th Anniversary Summer Stage Tour with MIGRANTS! Cantata a los Emigrantes.
MIGRANTS! will be presented on Friday, August 8 at 6:30 P.M. in Hoboken’s Sinatra Park, 5th Street and Sinatra Drive. The performance will be free of charge.
MIGRANTS! Cantata a los Emigrantes is a bilingual play with music celebrating the Puerto Rican men and women who toiled to establish a thriving and diverse Latino community in New York, New Jersey and throughout the eastern United States. A collective creation of PREGONES THEATER, MIGRANTS! draws from written and oral histories, lore and legend, and a dazzling literary heritage.
Premiered in 1986 and heralded by critics & audiences alike, MIGRANTS! is now re-staged to commemorate 10 years of Pregones’ free-admission Summer Stage Tour. A treat for the entire family! Don’t miss it!
Pregones Theater’s Summer Stage, part of the 2008 JP Morgan Chase Summer Arts Series, brings together professional theater artists and local community presenters to offer live bilingual entertainment to audiences of all ages in the Tri-State region. This program is also made possible with support of the New York State Council on the Arts and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. The Hoboken presentation is sponsored by NJ Action 21, the City of Hoboken, Hoboken Councilwoman Beth Mason and Ines Garcia Keim.
Founded in 1979 and based in The Bronx, New York, Pregones is an ensemble theater company that creates and performs original musical theater rooted in Puerto Rican/Latino traditions and popular artistic expressions. With a year-round calendar of events they offer new and affordable arts access to general audiences and foster dialogue on Latino arts, culture, and society.
